1930 Packard 733 Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton Description

1930 Packard 733 Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton

Listed on behalf of the owner.

If you were one of the fortunate few who weathered the stock market crash of October, 929 and wanted to forget about the Great Depression, here was no better car to do it with than a 1930 Packard 733 Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton. Stylish and exclusive, handful of true Dual Cowl/Dual Windshield Sport Phaetons were made, aking them exceedingly rare today, ome 86 years later.

This particular car was sold in June, 930 by the Packard Motor Car Company dealership in Boston. It lived for the following 25 years in the Northeast until being acquired in 1955 by William McCready of Forest Grove, regon. Rather than trailer the car from New York to Oregon, r. McCready asked one of his adventurous friends to drive the car cross country. He did so and it arrived without incident and remained a part of the McCready collection of antique vehicles until shortly before his death in 1962. At that time it was sold to noted Oregon collector and Chevrolet dealer, uy Carr, ho later performed a full restoration of the low mileage, riginal car during his ownership. It later passed to another noted Oregon collector, on Letson and then later to Ray Hickey of Washougal, ashington. It was acquired by the current owner in 2007. It has always been beautifully maintained.

This is a true factory Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton (the small, ear compartment vent doors in the "B" pillar between the front and rear doors is the key to identify them.) It has the rear compartment folding cowl and rear windshield, hich raise and lower as needed. Please see photos. It is highly optioned with chromed wire wheels, ual sidemounted spare tires with mirrors, potlight, wo Trippe driving lights, eater and trunk rack.

Cosmetically, he car is gorgeous. The restoration has seasoned and presents beautifully today. Packard Cream body with black beltline molding and black fenders. Nitrocellulose lacquer paint shows wonderfully with a deep shine. No cracks or crazing. Just lovely. The interior is a rich green which is supple and smooth to the touch. Truly an elegant, porty combination. The undercarriage (and the entire car) is RUST FREE. Please see photos.

Mechanically, he car is excellent. Original rebuilt 320 cubic inch straight eight engine develops 90 horsepower. Runs whisper-quiet (as a Packard should) with no unusual noises or smoke. Please see video of engine running. Electric fuel pump added. 4-speed manual transmission with high-speed rear-end for easy cruising around town, n the country or on the highway. A delight to drive anywhere.

Overall, his is a wonderfully preserved Classic Packard in one of the most desirable body styles ever produced. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceedingly rare car that has been collector-owned for 60 years, ever abused and always impeccably maintained.

A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its condition and rarity. Please bid accordingly.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
