1951 Packard Patrician 400 Patrician 400 Description

Up for auction is a super rare 1951 Packard Patrician 400. This was the best high end Packard made in 1951.Has a flat head 327 CID 8 cylinder in line engine, 3speed manual transmission,Radio,Dual spot lights,Chrome rain guards, rear foot rests/wedges. Was told when I purchased the car that it was originally an Indianapolis airport police car. I have no way of confirming this. The car starts up and runs good. The brakes feel ok. The fuel tank was removed and flushed recently. Though the car does start up and run, clutch feels good and has brakes. I have not driven it very far and would highly suggest to whoever is high bidder, trailering it home. It’s an old car that has not been restored. So I’m sure it will need some minor things done to it before it could be a daily driver or driven far. Doesn’t seem to have any leaks from the engine. Oil and antifreeze all look good. Doesn’t smoke or knock. Sounds really good. It starts right up and will set there and run until you shut it off. It does have a new battery and I replaced the ignition. It is titled by the vin on the engine block like a lot of these were. They didn’t go by the door tag. The title reads “P CAR/PKG CAR”. Not sure if that means police package car or what. I’m new to packards. Clean and clear Indiana title in hand.
I bought this car back early in the summer, but have too many projects and really need the space unfortunately. Would make a super nice car for sure and a rare one at that. I’ve been around classic cars my entire life and have never seen or even heard of a patrician 400 before this one. Can’t be too many left around!
