1948 Packard Custom Eight Description

This 1948 Packard Custom Eight was sold new in '48 at Curran Bridges Packard Motorcar Dealership located in Greenville, SC to Mr. C.F. Stancell. Mr. Stancell was President and General Manager of Monoghan Textile Mill company in Greenville, SC. The 201 Smythe St. Monoghan building still stands today as Luxury apartments.
The car through the years traded hands only twice locally within the family and in 1996 underwent a full restoration, but due to the very low mileage, the motor and drivetrain were left untouched, and engine cylinder pressures were all within 5psi or less across all eight. Accessory components all rebuilt or refurbished, body and chassis were refinished, and a refreshed interior in original tufted broadcloth was done by the renowned Vaughn's Trim Shop in Greer, SC.
In 2012 the car traded hands one last time locally and still presents in as stunning of condition as when finished in '96. Recent maintenance work includes professional rebuild of the carb, fuel pump, starter refresh and check, new battery, brakes adjusted, oil change and fluid check. Tires are of a more recent radial reproduction of originals. Documentation and record books available and accompany purchase as well as the original dealer brochure (pictured).
This car has been stored in a climate controlled space since restoration through today showing no signs of corrosion or decay. Driven and exercised frequently on highway trips and back country roads. I feel you will find all systems and finishes to be in as good as new or better. Should you have questions or like to discuss the Packard, feel free to contact me. Doug (864) 923 thirteen, zero, two.
You can find two videos I did within the last week as well as a current photo album.
