1958 Packard Hawk
275 bhp, 289 cu. in. overhead valve V-8 engine with a McCulloch centrifugal supercharger, Borg-Warner Flight-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, independent front suspension with unequal length A-arms, coil springs, and anti-sway bar, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120.5 in.
The car has a known history since 1971 when it was sold to the current owners late mother in Alameda, CA. After her death, it was sold to Art Astor (noted southern California collector with a 400+ car collection) restored by Custom Auto (Santa Ana, CA) in 1990 -91 and stayed in his collection until it was re-bought at auction in Fall 2007 by the owners brother when Art down-sized his collection by 3/4. Its been residing with its current owner in New Hampshire for the past 3-1/2 years.
Of the 588 made, only 28 had manual transmissions, so this one has the usual automatic transmission — a fast and light car!
The car looks fabulous on the underside and is very clean throughout. Runs and drives well and is a fabulous example of one of the few remaining Packard Hawks.
