1952 Packard Mayfair 250 Description

1952 PACKARD 250 MAYFAIR CONVERTIBLE
RARE!!!! ONLY 1000 MADE AND ONLY 50 KNOWN TO EXIST
Thank you for looking at my Packard convertible. It all started when I saw the car and was so amazed by its condition and then I googled the model and was star struck at the elegance of it. So I bought it and here is the finished project. I have to say it really impresses me and I am a muscle car guy and not really interested in the old lead sleds. Its been a lot of fun and very expensive to say the least. I found out you can't just buy any part out of a catalogue for a few bucks and have it the next day like you can Mustangs and Chevelles. Every part I needed was not only rare, hard to find but very expensive too. The car is spotless throughout. NO rust at all. NO bondo except skimming. The car was recently painted a soft yellow. The interior is matching soft yellow and red 2 tone. The carpet, trunk lining, suspension, brakes, steering, power booster/master, alternator, starter and top hydrolics are all new. The engine is the 327 Straight 8 and was totally rebuilt with only a few hours and miles on it. The transmission was missing and I found that the ultramatic that was originally in the cars was not only problematic but very hard to find one any good and expected to be a problem so I bought an adapter to install a newer GM 700R4. This was a popular choice due to better road driving and easy to service. The driveshaft was custom made. The electrical was converted to 12V and top motor was rewired. All new 12V bulbs installed. Radio works well and has a voltage reducer in line to it. GM alternator and gear reduction 12 volt starter also. Don't sound like an old 6 volt when starting now. The top is a stayfast canvas with zipper rear window and frame was completely blasted and painted as well. Dash, glovebox and underdash courtesy lights all work but no domelight installed in top bow. All chrome was rechromed and stainless polished. Newer radial 3" whitewalls. New exhaust and chrome tip. New fuel tank. The car is so sharp and elegant, sure to get tons of pleasure and attention not to mention car show awards.

The pictures I posted were a little early and showed no antenna or trunk lock cylinder BUT they are on the car now as well as the spare tire in the trunk. The transmission has a lockup convertor and I did not wire it up. I understand you can have a trans shop install a 4th gear switch in the valvebody so it applies TCC in 4th gear internally. The underneath frame and floors are absolutely perfect. NO rust or undercoating, Very clean satin black and show quality.
