This rare automobile has been in one family since 1960 and was maintained and stored properly since. It has 44K original miles and pretty much everything is in the original shape. The body is complete and went trough a repaint documented in the attached pics. Engine is the rare V-12 473 cubic inches which was recently rebuilt to the tune of $11000… It comes with the three-speed on the column manual transmission, 139” wheel base, 4.41 rear end, 6 Volt original electrical system, power brakes, etc. It has the original Broadcloth interior, Alpaca rear carpet, Packard AM radio functional, all gauges in working order. Interesting features include the roll-up divider window, fold down jump seats, vanity mirrors with perfume bottles (one that appears original is still there). Interior wood is all present with the old 1939 lacquer showing the adequate patina. Car is in excellent mechanical shape: it starts right away, exhibits adequate power, shifts properly, purrs like a kitten while driving… Lots of records are available, as well as the original owner’s manual and shop manual from 1939. The Pacakrd 12 is a legendary car, undoubtedly the finest car Packard ever built and probably one of the best cars of all time. The late 12, with its independent front end and hydraulic brakes, is one of the finest driving cars ever. Steady and smooth with incredible stability, the late Packard 12 was light years ahead of its time and I would hazard to say it was at least 25 years before another car was produced, at least domestically, that drove, handled and stopped as well as a Packard 12.
