1971 PLYMOUTH CUDA 383 IN Violet (Plumb Crazy) Billboard Car
1971 Plymouth Barracuda CUDA Description
Up for auction is my 1971 Plymouth Cuda. I purchased this car on Ebay a little over a year ago to restore for a wife that I no longer have. I have enjoyed restoring chevys for the last 30 years and I don't know much about mopars, so bare with me on any questions. I have not done anything to the car except install a new driveshaft and buy many new parts to begin the restoration. Ibelieve the 383 motor and the 727 transmission are from a 68 model year car, I was told that they were in working conditionbuy the seller but they were just dropped in and never hooked up. I would assume they will need to be rebuilt. The 8 1/4 rear end appears to be original to the car and it is a 3:23 Posi. I was also told that a previous owner was in the process of converting the car from a bench seatcolumn shift to bucket seats with console shift. The drivers seat is not bolted in. The sheet metal on the car is in pretty good shape with some small dents and dings. The quarter panels have been replaced and the floor pan under the driver area has been replaced, but that repair still needs a little area finished. The other floor pans look to be solid. There will need to be a few more small repairs to the sheet metal. I can also see where small repairs to the sheet metal were done on the front inner fenders, radiator support and in the trunk. There is surface rust on the whole underside of the car and on the frame. The only place where I saw that the frame has severe rust is on the frame extension at the rear of the car on the drivers side there is a hole about the size of two quarters (see photos). There is a power steering pump and box in the car. I do not have thewindshield, bumpers or brackets, alternator and I am sure that the car will need many other parts. The interior will need to be evaluated as to how much needs to be restored. The back seat and side panels and speaker area appear to look good. The rear and side window glass is in the carhowever the driver window is not in the car, but I do have it. It looks like someone installed a dash core from another car in this car because the vin plate has the wrong kind of rivets. The numbers stamped on the cowl are very faint and not completely readable. The numbers on the radiator support are also very hard to read. The car appears to have been painted purple originally and then red and then grey primer. I took many pictures of the car so you could get an idea of the condition. You are urged to inspect the car in person so that you know what you are buying and ask any and all questions before bidding. I could only post 24 photos on this add, I have 25 more photos of the car and the parts, I also have the front valance and many other parts that are not shown in these pictures. I can email more photos. If you have any questions you can call Jim at 970-948-1457 between 8 AM and 7 PM mountain time. I will help on this end with the shipping. Thanks for looking.
