First off let me give full disclosure andsay that this car is NOT a Formula S car. However, everything that would have made it a Formula S it now has. This car started out as a Slant Six Three Speed Column Shift. Bench Seat.Original color was Bright Blue Metallic. The previous owner of the car had it painted Sublime Green. He pulled out the Slant Six and the Three Speed and installed a 1970 340 Cubic Inch engine and anAutomatic Transmission. He installed the automaticbecause he had bad knees and could not shift a manual transmission anymore. He left the clutch pedal assembly in the car and kept the linkage. He did a front disc brake conversion and added a 8-3/4 sure grip rear end. This gentleman passed away and the car sat unused in a barn for many years.
We picked up the car in December of 2013 How long the car sat before that timewe do not know. We had it transported to our home in Utah in late December 2013. The first few pictures are of the car the day we bought it in California. The middle photos are of the car going through the restoration process and the last photos of the car are what it looks like as of 11/17/2016.
We cleaned up the car andspent several months changing the fluids and flushing the tank and fuel system. In the spring of 2014webegan taking it to some cruise nights and entered it in some car shows. We enjoyed the car through the summer.
In October of 2014 we began dismantling the car forrestoration. We stripped the car down to bare metal. We did not find any rust on the car atthis time. The floor pans and trunk pans are solid as well. Just a couple of spots of extremely minor surface rust was all we found under the car.The car had some cloth bucket seats out of a Mustang and we discarded those. We found a set of buckets from a 67 Barracuda ata wrecking yard in Oregon and refurbished those with new seat foam and upholstery. In fact the whole interior has been redone. We bought a brand new dash bezel and found a 150 mile per hour speedometer from a formula S Car.We took the engine to a local speed shop to have rebuilt. They took the motor apart and inspected everything. It turned out to be in really good shape. It only needed to be bored 20 thousands to clean it up.Everything in the engine has been rebuiltor replaced. It has a forged steel crank, new pistons, roller rockers and a mild comp cam just to name a few things. the heads have all been rebuilt as well. They were the"J" head but were machined to "X" heads. We installed a set of Hooker Headers, andFlowmaster Series 40 mufflers. The exhaust is new from front to back. It has an Edelbrock Air Gap manifold and a brand new Edelbrock Carburetor. The car has been converted to electronic ignition.
The transmission is a 4 speed out of a later model car. It is the overdrive 4 speed. It has a stock Mopar shifter. The transmission has been completely rebuilt and resealed and works like new.
the Rear End has been completely rebuilt and resealed. Weinstalled a new set of 3:55 gears in the rear. We had a new driveshaft made for the car.
We had the car repainted in Viper Yellow in January 2015. We redid the interior in blackfactory vinyl.Later as you can seein the pictures, We added a factory stripe along the side of the car. We blacked out the rear panel around the tail lights for an added sporty look.
We found a set of old school Cragar SS Wheels. 15X7 in the front and 15X10 in the rear. Webought all new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires on all four corners. The brakes have been all redone. New shocks all the way around.
Idon't think there has been any portion of this car that has not been redone or refurbished. It is an excellent running and driving car and performs very well. We have put about 1000 miles on the car since restoration.
We do not want to sell this car very bad but unfortunately we need to generate some funds to pay some unexpected medical expenses and this is one way we think we can do that.If you have any questions about the car we can be reached by phone or text at 801-597-0852 most anytime between 9 AM and 9 PM Mountain Standard Time. Or you can message through eBay. the car is being sold AS IS and no warranty is expressed or implied. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
