Fully Built 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner 440/727 stroked! Pro Street 91 octane
1973 Plymouth Road Runner Description
1973 Plymouth Road Runner
Up for auction is a genuine Roadrunner This started it's life as a Colorado car that sold in Lakewood Colorado in 1973. There is no rust. This car a few hundred miles ago was built into a high class race car for the local cruise nights. This car was built and no expense was spared. It is assembled with top end, high dollar components. Great lengths have been made to maintain the originality of the car so it still has its original dash with working gauges, carpeting, rear seats, side and door panels, headliner, working lights, wiper, and signals, etc. The guy who originally built it planned to use it for car shows and cruise nights rather than full time racing but still wanted it to perform like the real thing. The car is an actual Road Runner and could be converted back at some point if you really wanted to. Because the headliner, dash, gauges, etc. are all original and in place, converting it back to original appearance would entail removing the roll cage and race seats and installing correct seats, etc. Whatever was removed from this car could be sold for pretty good money. This car cost more than $60k to build it as you see here. The car comes with it's original fender tag and build sheet.
Engine: Indy Iron 440 block stroked to 505 cubes with ported aluminum Indy heads and gasket matched Indy Intake. Jet coated large tube headers, Holley 950 carberator, MSD ignition and billet distributor. Aluminum radiator with twin flexalite electric fans. 3" stainless Magna flow exhaust with Magna flow mufflers with outlets under the car in front of the rear axle. The exhaust also has outlets in front of the mufflers which can be opened for racing or extra loud exhaust. This is a newly built engine with only around 500 hundred miles of use...mainly just to get the car dialed in. New steel gas tank. In the driver area are a full set of racing gauges and also a data logger with air fuel ratio display. Dash gauges also work. Car runs just fine on 91 octane but can handle 110 octane. It is a bat out of HELL either way.Trans: 727 built bullet proof tough with 3500 stall converter, reverse manual valve body, trans cooler, pro shifter, driveshaft loop, line lock.Rear end: Dana 60 rear with 3.73 gears and 35 spline strange axles.Suspension and brakes: 4 wheel discs, all suspension rebuilt with Cal Track setup in the rear, rear mono leaf springs, 15" Weld Star aluminum wheels with new Mickey Thompson 29x15.5 rears. Plenty of tread left. The car has mini tubs to fit the rear tires but it was done so nicely that most people wouldn'tknow it.Interior: The rear seats and panels are not modified so all looks good inside. New Flaming River steering box. Battery is Optima Yellow top gel battery mounted properly in trunk. I bought a second yellow top that will sell with the car. Every bracket and bolt on this car is high quality stuff. Seats are Kirkey race seats.Car has a full cage and will certify to 10.0Paint and body: The paint is what I would call a 20 footer. It has lots of shine to it but there are a few scratches here and there that hurt, mostly around the hood area. Couple of paint bubbles on the roof, I'm guessingsolvent pop when it waspainted. The trunk area was also painted nicely. It has one chip on the trunk. The rear bumper has crome pitting but looks decent. Also, someone had too tall of an air cleaner on it at some point and put a small upward dent in the middle when they closed it on the carburetorair cleaner stud. A lower profile air cleaner is in place now with has good hood clearance but the damage is done. Not terribly noticeable and probably not had to flatten out but it needed to be mentioned in this ad. Doors open and close nicely and the door windows roll up and down smoothly as well. All sheet metal is original steel and has zero rust. No fiberglass panels anywhere. This car has a full roll cage but it was installed very nicely and could be cut out if someone wanted the more stock look. No prior accident damage that I can find. Car is nice and straight. It has a clear title. This car could be raced full time if you want to but it was built for local cruise night fun. It is NOT a thrashed out race car on its last legs.If you have any questions, please ask and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
