1969 Plymouth Roadrunner North Carolina Car
1969 Plymouth Road Runner Sport Interior Description
I recently retired and have decided to sell off some of my vintage car collection.
Up for auction is a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with the 383 engine & 727 Torque flight automatic transmission. This car has power steering and manual drum brakes. I purchased it in 2005 from a marine stationed at camp Lejeune, NC & this was his daily driver. He was shipping out to Iraq & didn't know when he would return so he decided to let it go. It has been stored in my warehouse since 2005 until June of 2016 when I got it out of storage.
This Road Runner has had one repaint years ago, the color is a little off from the original Ivy Gold and the paint job is what I would consider to be driver quality. This car is equipped with the Sport interior which gave you the bucket seats & console. The odometer reads 69,879 & is believed to be original mileage. The seats are still the originals & have not been recovered, the headliner is nice & carpeting is fair. Dash pad is cracked but is serviceable as is. The console & floor shifter are both in excellent shape. The body appears to have all of it's original body panels with minimal rust blisters showing in the lower quarters, fenders and corners of the doors. The hood shows some rust on the bottom front edge. None of the rust is bad for a 48 year old car since this is a true North Carolina car. The passenger door did have some spot painting done on the upper corners and you can see the different color in the pics. The trunk pan has surface rust but I don't see any holes.
All of the lights, dash gauges etc work as they should. It has the original thumb dial am radio but it doesn't work. This had a dealer add on air but the under dash unit unit has been removed. The compressor & condenser are still on the car so if you want to add air conditioning to it again most of the components are there already.
Here's a rundown on recent repairs have been done within the last year:*New fuel Tank, gas gauge sending unit & fuel pump *Carb restored by Carolina Carb Specialists in Wilmington, NC*Starter replaced*Master cylinder & front brake hoses new*Battery replaced*New Front wire harness (Engine & headlights)*Valve cover gaskets & intake gaskets replaced
This car just came out of a 12 year storage which is why most of these repairs were done. The 383 engine starts right up, runs great as it has a performance camshaft in it & sounds very healthy with the flowmaster exhaust system. The trans has a shift kit in it & shifts very strong.
This is a great muscle car someone can buy & drive now without spending $40k - $50K. It's getting harder to find complete running driving cars like this anymore that haven't already been restored or resto-moded so if this is what you've been looking for your search is over!
