1972 Plymouth Duster Description

A good Mopar is always the best muscle car for the money. The rare production numbers and unique touches always make them a hit today. It gets even better on a 1972 Plymouth Duster that was born a high performance 340 machine, and today now benefits from a Six Pack and a four-speed to really let it live up to its performance appearance. The Duster had one of the most aggressive A-body designs, and the glossy red just highlights all the angles perfectly. If you missed the curves on the shine of the paint, then the full-length factory-correct stripe package will help guide you across the "kicked-up" rear fenders. Those callouts on the rear are correct; this one was born a top-of-the line Duster package with the big motor for the little car. So that black composite hood feels like its earned, too. And while we'll get to the engine in a moment, right now, this about appreciating the quality, care, and restoration of a car that many let go too far before the car community really started appreciating them again. So out of the 15,681 big engine Dusters produced in '72, it might be a while before you find one again where the panels are so straight or the chrome bumpers have such a mirror shine. The white side stripes and black hood were actually just a preview for the interior. There's just something about high-back white bucket seats in Mopars that just seem to represent their era the best. The matching rear seats and door panels look great, but this one is also set up for real use. After all, the contrasting black not only looks great, but it's in high-traffic areas like on the top of the door where you rest your arm, or on the carpet that holds your dusty shoes. But what you'll love the most is the three-spoke steering wheel that gives you a clear view of the heat/defrost controls and all the gauges (including the newer Mallory oil pressure readout.) And of course, the Hurst shifter will always get your blood pumping from the moment you right hand grabs it.The biggest bang for the buck was stuffing a large 340 cubic-inch V8 into a lightweight car like the Duster. If you've never driven one of these potent small blocks, you're in for a treat. Thanks to triple two-barrel carbs of the famous Six Pack, it makes the most spectacular intake wail, and the hit of torque is quite unlike any other small block you've driven. A motor this special deserves to be shown off, that's why it looks terrific under the hood with the red painted engine bay coordinating with the huge air topper and bold V8 block. Plus, the Mopar valve covers and radiator add some nice darkness to the sea of red. You'll love getting this one out on the road, because the four-speed manual transmission give you complete control over the V8's powerband and really lets the dual exhaust roar. Plus, with front disc brakes and BF Goodrich T/As on the iconic Rallye wheels, you stay connected to the blacktop. This is one of this iconic and rare muscle Mopars that's great for show and go. So you don't want to let it slip by. Call now!!
