1965 Plymouth Bracket Racer Summit Pro or Sportsman 440 Race Ready All New
1965 Plymouth Valiant Description
All you MOPAR Drag Race fans or wanna be bracket racers, here's a chance to get started. This is an entry-level drag racer that you can get for cheap, currently owned and built by Ed "The Ferret" Carey, current and multiple NHRA Heiritage D-gas champion, and multi-time March Meet winner.
What we have here is a completed project: dare to be different in this 1965 Plymouth Valiant Coupe. It's not a Camaro, Mustang, or HEMI Challenger. It started life as a nice solid California car, which was originally owned by Top Fuel racer Kin Bates Jr in Northern California. Lets start from the front with the freshened up 440 with 10:1 compression, with 906 heads. It has a hydraulic Claysmith H280B CAM, 234 degree-480 lift, 108 LC, roller timing gear chain, and Howard's valve springs. It also hasan Eldebrock intake manifold, speed pro oil pump and rings, Moroso deep sump oil pan with windage tray, and a Holley double-pump carburetor.
This thing will run on 91 Octane pump gas. The double pumper is fed through a new fuel cell in the trunk, with new fuel lines and regulator all the way to the carburetor. It is also plumbed for NOS. The lines are ran, all you need is a solenoid. It does come with one solenoid, lines, bottle, and bracket.
The transmission has just been rebuilt with a new Hughes 10 inch heavy duty torque converter with aftermarket flex plate and shifter with a deep transmission oil pan. A new manual shift valve body was purchased for $250 and installed. It is a reverse pattern manual shift. It has new U-joints, balanced drive shaft which goes back to the 489 case, and a narrowed 8 3/4 rear end with spooled 4.11 gears, super stock springs, and a pinion snubber in it.
The car has just been minitubbed, with an all new 8 point rollbar welded in with sub frame connectors. The Hoosier drags tires in the back have two drag race passes on them, and are new otherwise. They're nearly new 28x10x15 tires, with a pair of drag skinnys on the front. The car has just been aligned, and the brakes have just been freshened up, and it has all new wiring and switches put into it.
The car has a nice basecoat clearcoat paintjob. The paint is nice but it has some scratches and it could use a buff. It is not show car condition but it is good for a race car. The car has made it's way up to Barona 1/8th Mile Dragstrip at 3500 feet and has made a total of 5 runs since it's been built, running in the mid-7s in the 1/8th mile. It has good potential with a mild tune-up.
This car is currently in Lakeside, California, but we can take it anywhere in the San Diego area. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but if you're international we can get it to a nearby shipping dock. The car has a clear title.
I've described the car to the best of my abilities, but there may be something I missed. If you have any questions, you can call Ed's house (he doesn't have a cell phone) at (858) 454-9935 or you can call or text me, Paul, (619) 206 2500, as the car is at my house. Happy bidding!
