You are bidding on everything pictured that remains of a 1937 PT-50 Plymouth pickup.
NO RESERVE
I have a clear Missouri title for this truck in my name therefore transition of ownership and documentation for your rat rod project will be very simple. VIN tag is clear and legible and matches the title; however I don’t like listing the number on the web for security reasons.
I was going to make this truck into a cool rat rod someday but plans have changed. From what I’ve read Plymouth only made trucks for four years 1937-1940. The 1937 Plymouth pickup according to one internet source is considered the Holy Grail of Mopar-dom. All I know is that they are indeed a rare bird in the antique truck world and have some very smooth lines.
Obviously, in my opinion, this truck is a rat rod candidate only as it would take considerable sheet metal work and expense to turn it into a full restoration show truck. (But hey, if you win the bid you can do as you wish).
Here is what you get and I will describe each part to the best of my ability.
Cab: Upper 2/3 in decent shape. Lower third rusted out or very thin. Floorboard and seat frame mostly gone. There is one pretty good dent in the cab on driver side that should be an easy fix with a little heat and a good body hammer or board.
Doors: Both thin and/or rotted out in lower 1/3
Front and Rear fenders: Thin or rotted out in several areas but enough structure still there to fabricate some nice rat rod fenders with added metal or maybe use some vintage license plates.
Frame: Main cross member behind the cab is there but bad. Otherwise frame appears to be in decent shape.
Front Axle: Front axle looks okay but is frozen in the turned position after years of rust and no grease. I have not attempted to free up but I don’t see any structural reason why this could not be accomplished with some heat, effort, and lubrication.
Rear axle: Frozen but still connected to frame with one spring hanger.
Bed: Very rough shape on passenger side, thin, rotted, etc. I think you could take the angled top rail and fabricate a rat rod bed with what is there.
Springs are shot and as well as rims.
You will have to find your own hood, grill, etc. to complete your rat rod but hey that’s what makes it your own unique project.
This is an 80 year old carcass of a rare pre-WWII pickup truck. Plenty of rust, rot, and thin metal but still enough bones to make one cool rat rod for someone to preserve a piece of automotive history.
Shipping is not available but the old truck can sit outside my shop and the other pieces can hang on the wall as long as needed. Hopefully not more than 3-6 months.
I can assist with loading as this truck is on a farm in SE Missouri and I have a tractor and loader.
Glad to answer specific questions from serious watchers/bidders.
A PayPal deposit of $500 due at time of final winning bid. Full balance is due through Paypal before truck can be loaded.
Bid with confidence. Remember, this truck has a clear title in my name, is 80 years old, has rust and some rot, but is still an awesome piece of history.
No scams. I've heard them all. I am honest, you be the same. Thanks for looking.
