1949 Plymouth SPECIAL DE LUXE DELUXE Description
TURN KEY 1949 PLYMOUTH SPECIAL DE LUXE 2 DOOR.
EVERY YEAR I SELL 1-2 FINE EXAMPLES OF CLASSIC OR ANTIQUE CARS OR TRUCKS OF EITHER MY OWN OR FOR MY CLOSE FRIENDS OR CAR CLUB MEMBERS THAT I KNOW VERY WELL AND HAVE KNOWN FOR MANY YEARS.
I WON'T LIST ANY AUTOMOBILES THAT WERE PURCHASED ONLY TO FLIP AND GENERALLY THAT HAVE BEEN OWNED FOR LESS THAN 10 YEARS AND MOST OF THEM INCLUDING THIS ONE IS MAINTAINED AS THEIR PRIDE AND JOY. IF YOU LOOK AT MY FEEDBACK I SOLD A 1934 FORD TRUCK FOR $28,700.00 LAST FALL, A 1972 TR7 FOR $11,900.00 AND THE YEAR BEFORE A 1940 FORD DELUXE FOR $19,000.00 AND ALL WITH HAPPY BUYERS WITH GREAT FEEDBACK GIVEN SO DON'T BE SHY TO BID TO WIN.
I AM LISTING THIS PLYMOUTH FOR A CLOSE LONGTIME FRIEND AND IS BEING SOLD BECAUSE OF HEALTH ISSUES.
THIS IS A FULLY OPERATIONAL TURN KEY PLYMOUTH WITH A 12 VOLT CONVERSION,NEW A/C UNIT INSTALLED, NEW TIRES AND BRAKES,(BLACK WALL TIRES WITH PORTA WHITES), BEARING PACK WITH REBUILT WHEEL CYLINDERS, LOWER BEARINGS AND PAN AND HEAD GASKET. ALL IN 2014 WITH 2000 MILES ADDED SINCE THEN. ALL OF THE CHROME IS VERY NICE INCLUDING THE STAINLESS GRILL WITH LITE WEAR ON THE SIDE STAINLESS AND 3 HUBCAPS HAVE LITE TO MEDIUM CURB RASH IN THE CENTER. THE STAINLESS ON THE DASH IS ALSO VERY NICE AND THE ORIGINAL TUBE RADIO STILL WORKS JUST AS IT SHOULD. THIS IS A 4 OWNER 49 PLYMOUTH THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN BILLINGS MONTANA.
THIS IS A ORIGINAL 55,000 MILE AUTOMOBILE THAT HAS BEEN VERY WELL CARED FOR ALL OF IT'S LIFE. IT APPEARS THAT AT ONE TIME THIS CAR RECEIVED A FRAME OFF RESTORATION OR PAINTING WITH THE FRAME BEING PAINTED BLACK WITH NO RUST ON THE UNDERSIDE ANYWHERE AND THE REAR SPRINGS ECT. BEING PAINTED AND WITH NO OVERSPRAY ANYWHERE SO I ASSUME THAT THE BODY WAS REMOVED FOR THIS TASK. A VERY CLEAN RESTORATION. YOU WILL NOTICE THE FIREWALL AND SEAMS BEING PAINTED WITH GREAT DETAIL. ALL ORIGINAL GLASS EXCEPT THE RIGHT REAR SIDE GLASS.
INTERIOR HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REPLACED WITH ALL OF THIS WORK DONE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNERS. 3 YEARS AGO THE OIL PAN GASKET WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF A LEAK, WHILE IN THERE THE MAIN BEARINGS WERE ALSO REPLACED AND THE PLAN WAS TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOTOR SINCE IT WAS APART EXCEPT THE CYLINDERS SHOWED NO WEAR WHAT SO EVER SO THE BOTTOM END WAS PUT BACK TOGETHER AND A NEW HEAD GASKET WAS INSTALLED FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. THE ENTIRE DRIVE TRAIN IS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR WITH THE CLUTCH, 3 SPEED TRANS AND DIFF. NICE AND QUITE LIKE IT SHOULD BE.
THE PAINT IS VERY NICE WHERE I HAVE NEVER NOTICED ANY ORANGE PEEL ANYTIME I HAVE BEEN AROUND THIS CAR. THE PANELS ARE LAZER STRAIGHT WITH THE ONLY FLAW BEING 2 VERY SLIGHT AND VERY SMALL ROUND INDENTS JUST BELOW THE LEFT SIDE REAR WINDOW SHOWN IN PICTURE #7. THIS IS A VERY TIGHT CAR WITH THE DOORS OPENING AND CLOSING LIKE A NEW CAR AND STARTS WITH A QUICK TURN OF THE KEY. THOUGH THIS IS A VERY CLEAN CAR IT IS A DRIVER THAT HAS BEEN USED TO AND FROM CAR SHOWS AND DOES HAVE 3-4 MINOR CHIPS IN THE PAINT THAT HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP AND DIDN'T SHOW UP IN PICTURES.
THIS CAR COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL SALESMAN BROCHURE,FUEL ECONOMY BOOKLET,ORIGINAL DOOR HANDLE GUARDS BOOKLET,OWNERS MANUAL ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL RADIO MANUAL.
WE HAVE ALL HEARD THE STORIES WHERE ADVERTISED THAT A VINTAGE OR ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE IS A LOW MILE CAR THAT WAS DRIVEN TO THE GROCERY STORE AND BACK BY A LITTLE OLD LADY.
WELL THIS CAR RETAINS THE ORIGINAL RUBBER WINDOW CHANNEL THAT HAS NOT DRIED OUT OR CRACKED. THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE TO BE SEEN AND THE FORMER OWNER SAID THAT THE BODY WAS A 100% RUST FREE BODY ALONG WITH THE PANS. THE FACTORY PAINT ON THE DASH IS EXCELLENT. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE IT CAME OFF OF THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR, THE TRUNK PAN AND SPARE TIRE PAN IS RUST FREE. THE ORIGINAL FRONT AND REAR EMBLEMS ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. ALL ORIGINAL GLASS EXCEPT FOR ONE PIECE, THE SEAT SPRINGS ARE LIKE NEW WITH NO SAGGING, ALL OF THE CHROME AND STAINLESS ON THE DASH ARE VERY NICE INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ORIGINAL RADIO WORKS AND ONE TELL SIGN WHICH IS HARD TO ARGUE IS THE HEAD LIGHTS WERE REPLACED IN 2014 BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T MATCH AND THE ORIGINAL IS DATED APRIL 1ST. OF 1949.
A PERSON CAN GENERALLY TELL WITH LITTLE TIME A WORN OUT CAR THAT WAS RESTORED FROM A TRUE CARED FOR LOW MILEAGE CAR AND THIS ONE IS IT WITHOUT QUESTION.
AS WITH ANY CLASSIC OR ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE THIS LISTING IS BEING SOLD AS IS.
I AM ALSO WELL VERSED IN DEALING AND ASSISTING OVER SEAS BUYERS TO GET YOUR AUTOMOBILE ON IT'S WAY WITH YOUR TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR BUY IT NOW PRICE OR THE RESERVE AMOUNT. THIS PLYMOUTH WILL RUN THE ENTIRE LISTING.
THIS AUTOMOBILE RUNS DRIVES AND RIDES VERY NICE WITH NO ISSUES WITH EVERYTHING WORKING AS IT SHOULD. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NICE TIGHT LOW MILEAGE MOPAR THEN THIS IS THE AUTOMOBILE FOR YOU.
HAPPY BIDDING!
On Oct-28-17 at 12:55:46 PDT, seller added the following information:I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT THE A/C CONVERSION IS A COMPLETE KIT FROM NOSTALGIC AIR AND THAT THE WORKING RADIO HAS A DROP DOWN RESISTOR TO 6 VOLTS SO THE UPGRADE WAS PERFORMED IN A PROPER MATTER.
SINCE THIS TONE OF LITE GREEN IS ALWAYS HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH WITH TODAY'S CAMERAS GENERALLY ALWAYS SHOWING THE TRUE COLORS TOO LIGHT IN THE BRIGHT SUN THE TRUE COLOR CAN BE SEEN IN PICTURES 6&7 WHICH ACTUALLY HAS A VERY LITE BLUE TINT IN THE TRUE COLOR WHICH MAKES IT VERY ATTRACTIVE.
