1968 Plymouth Road Runner High Description

1968 Real 426 HEMI ROAD RUNER

This is 1 of 61 ever produced REAL 1968 Plymouth 426 Hemi Road Runner. This is NOT a clone . It was never marketed on the internetever until now!

This is a desirable " 23" Hardtop coupe so it is the 2 door without post and the rear windows roll down.

This Hemi Road Runner displays starting with a no hit car, it is a complete body stampings (220723) matches 100% in specification to its original Chrysler Fender Tag. Its a rust free car which spent most of its life (last 40 plus years) in North Carolina.

Car is Factory MM1 Turbine Bronze exterior (No Vinyl) with Legendary new black bench seat interior.

It is stamped both in the front radiator support and rear trunk rail. The body has the correct torque boxes that only came on Real HEMI cars.

I purchased the car from an avid multiple Mopar collector who was gathering parts over 18 years and started the full restoration. So fa, The entire car was acid stripped, underside was painted and assembled properly for concourse restoration.

The rear, steering, and undercarriage suspension is new or restored as shown. The body is very rust free but needs be assembled and final bodywork finished. The Hemi K member and rear are fully restored and installed. Steering box all new or rebuilt. A lot of the hard messy work is already completed. Nothing hidden as you get whet you see.

I also do have many NOS NEW parts that go with the sale of this car including the rear panel, Newbumpers, taillights, taillight bezels, from headlight bezels, and front grill. I have all glass and moldings. I have all the original parts, wiring, pulleys, starter, alternator, torque converter, and hardware removed from it . It comes with original thumb wheel radio and mint NOS dash pad. Has original steering wheel also. Have all glass except windshield. Have moldings and trim. Seat belts are in boxes, New carpeting and trunk mat in boxes, Most is boxed and labeled for ease of identification during reassembly.

ABC OPTIONS:

A1: 26in Radiator

Optioned on this Road Runner is 26 inch radiator 3:55 gears,

Features include a 1968 casting date coded complete Hemi engine.

The engine, I believe from the S. M. 105 stamping on the front pad was rebuilt by 105th engine from famous Race Team / Sox and Martin. It is also stamped HC ( High compression )under the block near the starter indicating super stock engine. The heads are casting 2780559. Also inclused are the correct engine mounts and both dated Hemi Exhaust manifolds.

The 1968 Hemi engine casting 2468330-1 (dated 01 15 68) comes complete with the correct dual quad intake ( 2780544 / 2780543, linkage, fuel lines, air cleaner, air cleaner base and element, date coded correct carter AFB carburetors (carter G7 4431S and G7 4430S), and rebuilt (2444683) presto light cast iron dual point distributor. The 26 inch Radiator is original part number 2898048. Used in 1968 Hemi cars

The engine was removed stored on a stand in a heated garage in a bag on a stand since removed in 1996.

The engine is very clean looking down the openings and turn over fine. It had clean oil in it. I have not disassembled it.

Based on the person I got if from it was built by Sox And Martin it is high compression and has a race type solid camshaft in it.

The original born with Hemi 3 speed 727 HD transmission is the original numbers matching unit and the VIN 226737 clearly appears on the top of bell housing. My research shows they are also different inside because of the 1968 426 Hemi applications. The 8 ¾ sure grip rear case is casting 2881489 mopar.

In addition, the Road Runner rides on original 15 inch rallye steel road wheel with all new F70 15 Red Line bias tires.

I am told the Mopar wheel covers are the original to this car and are very rare 15inch units only available on select 1968 Hemi Chargers and Hemi Road Runners.

The car is verified by North Carolina title history has having only 92k actual miles. This car has a clear PA title in my name with actual 92k miles.

It is also thoroughly documented as a true Hemi car with its factory-original VIN, body stampings, 1968 Hemi K Member with hemi mount and skid plate, original fender tag, and verification from trusted"Richard Kras My Mopar.com" and truly represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Blue Chip Chrysler Hemi muscle cars today.

It does need a lot of work as shown to restore to optimum concourse cometic level but it overall very solid, has real good l bones, great Value in the Hagarty value or NADAguide.
