1970 Plymouth Cuda 340 4 Speed Project
1970 Plymouth Barracuda Description
This is a 1970 Plymouth Cuda unfinished project car just rolled out of over 20 year storage. Originally from Texas, this nearly rust free 340 4 speed Cuda was being made into a custom (at the time) street/strip type car many years ago. Car features matching number motor built, tunnel ram intake, 2 4 bbl carbs and a 3 piece custom made fiberglass tilt forward front end with vintage Cal Custom air cleaner fitted projecting out the hood.
In order to fit the front end on, the original inner fenders and total radiator support was removed. Could be put back to stock by replacing these parts. The front end pivots on brackets attached to the front of the frame rails. Front end raises and closes easily, connects to the fabricated dog leg parts on each side. Not a kit front end, this was custom fabricated for this car.
This project stopped at the point of where a roll cage system with supports for the front frame rails, etc. was probably next in line. looks like a radiator support was in process. Car has never been driven since put together.
Engine/transmission- Original matching motor was built, roller rocker motor now, sorry we don't have any cam specs, etc. Motor has run several times but not started in over 10 years. No matching transmission, has a 1969 Hemi B body transmission with a vintage ratchet shifter. has a scatter shield in place. all connected to a stock 8 3/4 rear end with 5.11 gears. front suspension is still original type with sway bar as is the rear end with factory sway bar. Manual brakes all around with line lock.
Body- the body itself is very solid with very little rust. areas of rust- couple small holes just left of gas pedal, rest of floors including back is solid, some rust holes in trunk floor see last pic, couple more holes on other side, couple small holes in rear window channel, rear passenger rocker where it meets quarter down low needs a patch. that's about it for rust. Driver quarter has bondo cracked looks like had a collision there. doors, rockers (except as noted above), roof, dutchman panel, cowl, deck lid (original go wing style), under car is very dry original.passenger door and deck lid are replacements not original to the car. glass is good, original windshield is cracked not leaking. Wheels on car are not included, we replaced flat rollers with these from other cars to show a better stance.
Interior- Interior needs total restoration i.e. dash is cracked, seat covers torn, headliner falling down, etc.. Dash assembly has never been out of car. Standard gauges in place speedo say 99,922.most interior painted black, was green. has some of the seat belts. missing some window trim.original shelf tray in place. no radio.
NO fender tag or broadcast sheet with this Cuda. Has clear title and that Vin# matches the cowl, dash tag and door tag. Car looks to be originally FF4 Light Green Metallic with green interior someone sprayed black. was a power steering, non rally gauges, console 4 speed car originally.
This car has a lot of potential whether you restore it in its current configuration or restore the car back to a matching 4 speed car and put race front end and parts on another car.
