1970 Plymouth 'Cuda Convertible Description

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda Convertible

The new 1970 Plymouth Barracuda was introduced along with the all-new Dodge Challenger. Both shared the new E platform, which stood for extended and, appropriately, was an extended version of Chrysler's K platform. An extremely similar look shared by the cars fittingly resulted in them being known as the Mopar Twins.

For consignment one of the twins, but this one has been the recipient of a rotisserie restoration, which has been well documented. With loads of receipts, and a nifty photo album documenting the entire process, we give you a high powered Hemi Clone. Just a beautiful job overall has been done, and some interesting options which this car was ordered with, have had liberties taken with them. Scroll on!

Exterior
At the front of the car, a traditional blackout split grille with single black bezeled headlights flanking on either side. At the top of those lamps, a familiar Shaker Hood in Lemon Twist, replaces the original 2 port hood, and now has a corresponding black scoop. The hood continues rearward, to a pristine stainless framed windshield. Bringing up either side of the stainless are Lemon Twist sport mirrors. Moving to the rear quarter on our way we note extremely well minded gaps, and all straight worry-free steel, and the familiar hockey stick HEMI sticker in black. And at the back of the car, a traditional black valence housing the iconic Plymouth 3 bar taillights, and a 'Cuda badge. The rear showroom quality bumper hangs below the valance, and in a Lemon Twist rear panel dual chrome tipped exhaust peek out. Topping the car off is a nearly like new white canvas power activated convertible top with a clear rear window.

Interior
Keeping the door open to the "no stone left unturned department", we can swing open a door and see showroom quality door panels in white leather. Also showroom quality are 2 leather high back buckets with center panels of tuck and roll pattern and plenty of buttons for accents. The rear bench carries this motif in back, and these are nearly perfect as well. This all sits in a beautiful calm sea of jet-black carpet. Floating above the carpet up front is a well-done restoration on the dash, featuring clean as a whistle gauges, a wood appliqu, and a dandy AM/FM/8 track player (do they still make those?) Seen racing up the center between the buckets is a 70's stylized console in black vinyl, and wood appliqu, and sporting a wood 'Cuda pistol grip shifter.

Drivetrain
A 426ci Hemi V8 replaces the original 318ci V8, hence the need for the shaker hood. A Holley 750 CFM carburetor sits atop. Attached to the back of this healthy mill is a 3 speed Torqueflite A727 automatic transmission. Power flows rearward and is distributed to each rear wheel via a positrac Dana 3.54 rear.

Undercarriage
With a restoration of this quality and attention to detail as such, one would expect nothing less than to see the likes of which all are rust free, even dirt free, perfection amalgamation of pure metal parts all with a Lemon Twist field of the unibody. 11" rear drums, and slotted front disc brakes, held together with independent front, and leaf sprung rear suspension. Note the photo of the headers and engine pan, it might as well be jewelry, that is just how nice this car presents itself.

All dressed up, and now also ready for some whoopass, 426 cubes of shaker hemi, plenty of carb CFM, and a 3-speed, all wrapped up in straight pristine Lemon Twist steel. Now that's what I call a muscle car. Bad enough to move away from the twin and become the evil stepsister!
