Very Clean Survivor w/ Only 30k Orig Miles! 225 Slant 6, Auto, Just 2 Owners!
1964 Plymouth Other Description
This funky little 1964 Plymouth Valiant is the kind of car that you rarely see anymore. An incredible survivor with ridiculously low mileage that's been well-maintained and impeccably cared for since new, just like a regular member of the family. And with highly appealing Lightly Turquoise paint, a robust slant-six with a smooth-shifting push-button automatic, and those unique good looks, it's a very affordable way to stand out in a crowd without needing to resort to big engines and ostentatious chrome.
Chrysler wasn't afraid to take chances with their styling in the 1960s, and this Valiant has that unusual look that gets a lot of attention today simply because you don't see them very often. Heck, you didn't even see them that often in 1964. But when you did, cars with unique designs and styling like this on always left an indelible mark. Fortunately, this 2-owner, 30k actual mile time capsule has always been treated like the baby in the family, and it looks far better than you'd expect for a car in this price range. It has always been garage-kept, so you know it's straight, and it still wears its original coat of Light Turquoise paint – an almost unheard-of highlight on a car of this vintage. There are certainly a few flaws and signs of use acquired through the years (after all, the car has been driven 30k miles over the course 56 years) but nothing that stands out as troublesome, and a professional cut/buff/wax job would really restore some former glory in the finish. Good gaps and factory panel alignment come from all that clean living and preservation as well, and if you didn't know better, you'd almost think that the cool grille was a custom piece. In fact, all the trim is 100% stock and intact, and although it too shows some understandable signs of age, you'd never guess the age because it still shines up great against the light blue bodywork. But that's an easy thing to forgive on a car that looks this good and drives this well.
With comfortable two-tone cloth bench seats and bright, lively dash, this Valiant has a cozy yet sporty feel inside. Because this is a V200 Deluxe Model Valiant, the car comes equipped with fancier seat fabric, ornate door panels, and quality carpeting with a better insulated pile and weave. You'll find it easy to get comfortable behind the original steering wheel thanks to rather spacious accommodations in the cabin, and with a push button automatic transmission and factory A/C (upgraded to use R134a refrigerant but needs service to operate 100%), long distance cruising is certainly on the menu. The wide array of dials, knobs, and switches on the dash is very 1960s, and we particularly love the crisp, clear gauges inside the bright silver bezel, especially because it pops out beautifully from the light blue dash. In fact, all the components are perfectly laid inside silver bezels, reminding us that Chrysler was the undisputed king of flashy cockpit and dash design in the 1960s. Nice, right? The original wheel includes a silver horn ring and proper Valiant center cap, which gives it an upscale feel inside and even the original AM/FM radio is still in the dash. The nice carpets are still protected by the original floormats, there's a taut original headliner above, and a practically untouched rear seat make this a great place to spend some time. Out back the trunk is finished to stock specs, with an original mat that probably hasn't seen anything dirtier than a picnic basket in all these years.
Don't underestimate Chrysler's larger, sportier 225 cubic inch slant-6, because in the featherweight Valiant, this factory optional six-banger delivers surprising performance. It's silky smooth and looks 100% correct sitting there in the engine bay laying on its side. It's dressed in factory red engine enamel and wears a correct air cleaner and 'Super 225' decal. Service access is great and it's nice to see that everything is factory correct, sans the upgraded A/C compressor. In the last two years, the current owner has serviced a laundry list of components, further proof that this Valiant has always been treated like royalty. There's a good hit of low-end torque right off the line that develops into a sewing machine smooth ride at higher speed, and there's plenty of power to flip this lightweight Mopar in and out of the corners. Underneath it's as clean as you'd expect after a lifetime of proper care from only two conscientious owners, exhaling through a correct single exhaust system that has a nice 6-cylinder purr. Drum brakes at all four corners are plenty for the lightweight little 2-door and ride quality is great thanks to Chrysler's torsion bar front suspension. Factory wheel covers and 185/80/13 Goodyear whitewall tires add a correct finishing touch on this beautiful survivor.
With only two owners since new, this 30,491 actual mileage Valiant is one of the most preserved survivors you'll ever find. And with conscientious ownership and lots of recent maintenance, this little Mopar is ready for another 60 years of easy living. Call today!
