Up for auction with **NO RESERVE** is a beautifully restored, numbers matching 1971 PLYMOUTH ‘CUDA. Finished in gorgeous B5 Blue with a black vinyl bucket seat interior, she represents only 1 of 501 ‘Cuda hardtops manufactured in 1971 with a 6.3L 383 C.I. big block mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.
This 'Cuda has spent its entire life on the west coast as evidenced by the ownership history. Originally purchased at Roy Burnett Motors in Portland, OR by a naval vet returning from military service in 1971, the car eventually made its way up to Seattle, WA where it received a full nut and bolt rotisserie restoration in 2004. It's next journey was a homecoming back down to Portland, OR when it was sold to a collector who kept it in his stable along with two fully restored Hemi ‘Cudas and numerous other investment grade vehicles. He put less than 100 miles on the fresh resto and, as luck would have it, was able to get in touch with the original owner who was briefly reunited with his former car before it was loaded onto an auto transport and shipped down to me in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve owned the car since 2013 and have only put an additional 660 miles on it.
VIN Plate, Fender Tag and Broadcast Sheet are all unmolested and accounted for as are all the requisite drivetrain and body panel stampings. A color photocopy of the car’s original Oregon title from 1971 is included along with both original front and rear DMV issued license plates and two registration documents with the original owner’s name on them from the 1980s.
Desirable factory installed options include: 4 Speed A833 Manual Transmission (D21), “Sure Grip” 3.91 Axle Package (A31), Power Assist Disc Brakes (B51), Road Lamps (L34) and, last but not least, the audacious Fresh Air “Shaker” Hood (N96). Billboards were added during restoration but were not ordered with the vehicle when originally purchased. A set of reproduction Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 tires are mounted to 14" steelies with dog dish hubcaps. Other non-stock parts added during restoration include a 7-quart high capacity oil pan, high performance x-pipe exhaust and a modern 4-barrel Holley Double Pumper.
This is an older restoration so there are a few minor condition issues I'm aware of to disclose. (1) There's a paint scratch on the rear valence just above the right exhaust tip. This was caused by an errant rock that was kicked up while the previous owner was driving. (2) A small paint chip was discovered near the right fender mounted turn indicator. (3) There's a minor coolant leak emanating from the right exhaust manifold's rear-most bolt. This was present when I purchased the car and is apparently a known issue that can develop on these vehicles. Apart from these items, this 'Cuda presents beautifully and the restoration maintains its previous fit, finish and polish.
Full VIN and additional photos will be provided to serious buyers and the vehicle is available for inspection to those who can demonstrate available funds for purchase. Please contact me for details or more information.
