It is hard to convey in pictures and words how truly exceptional this car really is. Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this all numbers matching, unbelievably original, and documented 1978 WS6 Trans Am with the high performance W72 6.6 Liter engine and only 51,310 original miles. The market on the 1977 and 1978 Trans Am's is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Very low mileage and original examples of the second generation Trans Am's are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "Actual."
This Pontiac looks outstanding, runs great, and is and awesome driver. I have personally put over 50 miles on the car and during that time it was completely reliable and a pleasure to drive. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Trans Am that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combination of Mayan Red (75) with Gold decals over Black Cloth interior (19B). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified on the trim tag and build sheet. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Trans Am really is.
There is a wealth of original documentation that comes with this Trans Am. Most importantly to verify all of the highly sought-after and rare options, the original build sheet is include with the car and pictured below. Also included is a copy of the window sticker, the original owners manual, the 1978 Pontiac Maintenance booklet, and the 1978 Pontiac Consumer Information booklet. Please note that this Trans Am is "numbers matching." That means that the engine in the car is original and the same unit that was installed at the factory. The last six digits of the VIN, 113082, are stamped on the engine block and pictured below indicating that this is the original engine that was installed in the car brand new at the factory. The full stamping is "28N113082" and "2" indicates the Pontiac division of GM, the "8" is the model year, 1978, and the "N" is the plant where the car was produced, Norwood, OH. Also stamped on the block is the engine code "X7," which is correct for a W72 engine with an automatic transmission.
The transmission is correct and original as well with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the case and pictured below. The main case of the transmission shows a "6 77" casting date, which is June 1977 and correct for the car. The transmission date code is also pictured below, 8P20D. The "8" is the model year, 1978. The "P" indicates the month, the "20" is the day of the month, and the "D" is the shift so the transmission was made on September, 20 1977 during the day shift. The paint and interior trim codes are also correct for this color combination and pictured below on the trim tag. This Trans Am rolled off the assemble line during the fourth week of September in 1977 (09D).
