Offered here is a survivor 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with 30,382 actual miles. Anthony Kolhoff of Plainwell, Michigan purchased this car new on May 27, 1981 from dealer C H Wallace Pontiac GMC of Cedar Springs, Michigan. He purchased the car as a collector, drove it infrequently, and kept it stored in his garage. On July 1, 2012, Melissa and Rick Mawby of Twin Lakes, Michigan purchased the car with only 10,999 miles recorded. The Mawby’s then put 20k miles on it in the past four and a half years. They never drove it in the snow or rain. We have the original title to prove the mileage. It remains highly-original, even down to the decals.
The PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) documents that accompany the car prove that it was finished in Cameo White (code 11) over a Blue interior (code 24N1) with a L37 4.9L (301ci) 4bbl V8 powerplant. It is a numbers matching engine and transmission. Other factory options include the Hood Decal (D53), Body Side Molding (B84), Custom Color Keyed Belts (AK1), All Windows Soft Ray Glass (A01), Hatch Roof-Removable/T-Tops (CC1), Additional Acoustical Insulation (BS1), Lamp Group (TR9), Radio Accommodation Package (UN9), Tilt Steering Wheel (N33), Custom Trim Group (B18), Posi-Traction Rear End, Power Steering, and Power Brakes. Recent upgrades include new door panels, new carpet, new radiator, and both front and rear bumpers have been touched up. All other paint is original. And although this car came with 7-inch wide Snowflake wheels, we thought 8-inch wide look was a tasteful upgrade. The car looks great, starts on command, and drives true.
These second generation Firebirds are rising in collectability and only 4,831 were made like this one: 301ci Trans Am with T-Tops. Add that to having all ownership history and low miles, this car is truly a Pontiac timepiece. The car does come with PHS docs, reproduction window sticker, original title, original books and original keys with a copy set.
