Previous owner explained this car was converted by a dealer to
the GTO option when a customer could not find a '65 GTO for
sale. After the '64 year it was hard to find a GTO for sale. Some
dealers took '65 Le Mans and added the 389 with 3 2 Bbl's and
correct interior and exterior badges to make a GTO.
This car started (it was white) as a Le Mans, 4 Speed with console.
It has the AM Push button Radio. Added since then an under dash
(period correct) FM converter, and OEM Vibra-sonic, some called it
reverb, mounted in the trunk on rubber mounts. Concert hall sound,
before stereounder dash switch ..
Car has new Interior, AC, Bumpers Re Chromed as well as replacement
door handles and chrome inside. New front and rear windshields, Wheels
were changed 15 " Pontiac with correct trim rings etc. Car had 14 " from
the factory, but changed to 15 " to accommodate power disc brakes. Also
has PS.
Even has the original (try to find one of these) Steering Wheel and Horn
Rim. Have a wood one if you want it ..
Starts and drives as it should. The brakes are exceptional. Carbs are re built.
Maintained and kept in heated air conditioned garage.
Shows almost 30, 000 miles on the speedometer.
Car really needs nothing as it's a great driver. Perfect, not really
it has a "driver quality" paint that looks very nice Perfect, strip and
re paint . I was not interested in a perfect car as I would not drive
it if it were ...
