In the late 70’s and early 80’s, the Pontiac Trans Am was on a popularity roll! Burt Reynolds made a black one famous as ‘The Bandit,’ and they were widely regarded by most as the last true muscle car on the planet. These cars are back and more popular than ever, and the upswing in value and collectability for these highly optioned examples shows no signs of slowing!
Astute buyers are beginning to take advantage of the opportunity to sign the papers on the Trans Ams of their fond childhood memories before prices really begin to rise. And this awesome 1979 model, with its numbers matching W72 4-speed powertrain, long list of desirable options and full documentation, is the perfect investment for a savvy buyer who wants to stash back one of the hottest collector cars on the market, or a hardcore Pontiac fan who just wants a car that’ll provide years of fun!
Included with the sale is a copy of the PHS Documents courtesy of Pontiac Historical Services. There is also a complete booklet with articles about these cars as well as a January 1979 copy of Car and driver, where they are talking about the new 79 TA's. Below, I’ve laid out all the equipment listed on the PHS sheet.

Assembled at GM’s Van Nuys California manufacturing facility in 1979, this highly optioned WS6 Trans Am, is a very solid car today and you can tell it hasn't spent any winters in the northwest. Just by walking around this car and looking in the door jamb and door bottoms you can tell this TA has always been cared for by its past owners. We have completed our safety check and lights check on this car, and all checked out good. We did replace the heater core and heater hoses as a result of that checklist. At the current time, the air conditioning is not charged. Other than that is is one fine example of a very sought after car. With plenty of black ones on the market for sale, you don’t come across many red ones, especially with the beautifully rare Oyster White interiors... plus one loaded up with as many options as this one has!
We have had the car up on the lift looking for the normal rusted out areas, and we found none, which is another strong sign that this was a west coast car. The underside has been blacked out and cared for well by its previous owner. It also has a set of headers on it, to give you that added muscle car performance and sound through the dual exhaust.
High-quality second generation Trans Ams are red-hot right now with the value of clean, unique factory correct cars climbing steadily each year. Enthusiasts are turning to cars like this to round out their collections or building entire collections around the cars of their childhood just like this one. With its fantastic body and the long list of options, this has to be one of the nicest '79 Trans Ams available in red on the market today!
