1969 Pontiac Firebird, PHS Documented, YS-Code 400ci, RAM Air 3, Muncie 4-Speed
1969 Pontiac Firebird Description
While 1969 Camaros get a lot of attention, hey certainly weren’t the only game in town. Their Pontiac-badged cousin had more cubes and curves, ending them a lasting appeal that resonates in today’s collector market. This fully restored 1969 Firebird is a great example of what makes these cars so great. With 400 power, gears, nd a great color combination, t doesn’t get much better than this.
All Firebirds were born with good looks, ut this one’s current condition comes courtesy of a complete restoration a few years ago, nd still looks great. The color is called “Pull Me Over Red“ (no really, hat’s its name) GM Paint code 130X/G7C, lthough it was born code 73 Verdoro green. We are definitely fans of the color change as this car looks stunning in a red dress. The red was sprayed over solid GM sheet metal and topped with show-quality chrome, lass, nd stainless trim.
Power is provided by a 1969 Pontiac GTO motor that was used to complete this beautiful restoration YS Code 400ci V8 which has been rebuilt to factory specs. The whole assembly is painted Pontiac Blue and topped with a correct Quadrajet carburetor and chrome valve covers. The person who restored it added a very expensive Ram Air 3 air intake, hich wasn’t born with this car, ut surely adds plenty of value. The engine presents with authenticity and powers desirable accessories such as air conditioning and power steering.
Underneath the F-body, he rock solid floor pans are dressed in black. In the center, Muncie M20 4-speed makes quick work of gear changes before spinning power back to a factory 12-bolt rear end. At either side, n aluminized dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers offers a great tone for the 400. The car’s original double A-arm front and rear leaf spring rear suspension has been completely rebuilt to factory specifications and features correct power steering and a correct front sway bar. The suspension is further aided by power steering and power disc brakes. At the corners are 14-inch Factory style wheels with BF GoodRich Radial T/A tires P225/70R14 that round out the package nicely.
Inside the car, ou’ll find greater Pontiac styling wrapped in a mixture of black, hite, nd rich wood grain applique. Crisp, lean dash gauges, ith the 160 mph speedo and a correct wood grain steering wheel. At ground level, resh black carpet covers the floor and is sealed by crisp Fisher Body door sill plates. The dark shade continues onto the dashboard which offers factory instrumentation as well as controls for the HVAC system. The factory radio is still in place. A long center console flows down the middle between clean white bucket seats, hile a taut white headliner stretches above.
Included in the sale of this impressive Pontiac is PHS documentation that provides insight into the car’s origins.
The market for these ‘69 Firebirds is incredibly strong, specially since 69 Firebirds this clean are hard to find.
