1979 Pontiac Trans Am American Steel Description

Up for sale is a cool, fun to drive 1979 Trans Am. The good: Rebuilt olds 403 with mild cam. Rebuilt trans with shift kit. New 2 1/2" exhaust with headers. New shocks - air shocks in rear - car has a great stance! New leaf springs. New breaks and calipers. New master cylinder. All new lines. New gas tank. New door panels. Rebuilt seats with new foam and leather covers. New wiring. New weather stripping. New BF Goodrich TA Radials. Make no mistake - this car is fast! Not for a young inexperienced driver. Heat works great. New CD player and speakers.
The Bad: The VIN indicates that this car started as a Formula Firebird. Someone converted at some point. I bought this car from someone who needed cash in a hurry. He said he had $12,000 into the car over the last 3 years. Was about to start on the body work. The blue interior looks good a few feet away - upon closer inspection it's apparent that its not professional. Fuel gauge not working. Speedo seems to be off by 10%. I'm sure the rear gears have been changed and speedo not re-calibrated. Rear quarters are OK, but will need some work at some point. Front fenders have some lower bubbling. Hood bird was scrapped off and has some surface rust - NEW BIRD decal is included. The seats are great, but if you'er a taller individual - over 6 feet - you may have a problem. They sit a little high - may be the new foam, not sure. Previous owner was a shorter gentleman. No A/C compressor.
This car gets attention everywhere I go. Really fast off the line. Its a car you can drive - and drive hard - and not worry about scratching a $30,000 trailer queen. Not to mention low insurance. The only reason its up on Ebay is I have bought another car and my wife has asked me to move on with one of my others. Here it is. I was going to repaint and possibly add the formula graphics, some blue pin striping and call it a Formula T/A. I really don't know much more then that. I've had the car about a year and have had no issues. Low reserve - but not giving away - don't need the money. Happy wife - happy life.$500 non refundable deposit due at auction end. Balance in 7 days. Winner responsible for shipping. No warranty implied or otherwise. It is what it is. Thanks for your time and consideration.
