1986 Pontiac Fiero Description

Custom 86 Pontiac Fiero

Up for auction is my Custom 86 Pontiac Fiero. I have not had the opportunity to own the car for very long and because of back surgery issues must sell this one-of-a-kind beauty to pay towards my medical expenses plus because of my back surgery find it next to impossible to get in and out of the car. My loss is your gain.

The following about the car was what was told to me from the previous owner. The previous owner purchased the car in 2006 and completed the restoration in 2008. The restoration included, and I can believe it by the way this thing runs, a totally rebuilt 2.8 engine. The rebuild included a new block with new crank, pistons, rings and heads from a rebuilding company. Most of the exterior engine covers have been powder coated blue to contrast with the color of the car. New headers (see picture) were installed giving the exhaust an awesome sound and a little additional performance.

Most of the suspension parts (see pictures) have been powder coated blue to contrast with the color of the car. The car has been lowered just slightly and includes new rear adjustable struts, new front shocks and poly bushings. The brake disks, calipers and master cylinder were all new or rebuilt in 2009. New stainless steel brake lines were added at all four corners.

Transmission is the more popular five speed that shifts smoothly through all the gears and shows no signs of problems with the clutch. Was told that a new clutch disc and pressure plate was installed at time of motor rebuild.

The body as you can see has custom functional scoops in front of the rear wheels and functional scoop on the front hood. Door handles have been shaved to give the whole car a smoother look. Door poppers by remote open the doors and there is an emergency hidden push button inside the rear scoops on both sides. The paint over-all shows well from a distance but there are some minor flaws in the clear coat. They got a little carried away on the front edge of the passenger door and the rear edge of the front fender sanding the clear coat. The paint is blue with some pearl and was wet sanded to give it a nice gloss and then the white accent stripes, which in my opinion really set off the car were added.

What little I got to drive the car I could see heads turning and people coming up to me at the gas station asking questions and wanting to take pictures. So if you don’t like attention, this car may not be for you.

Interior has been redone with new carpet and matching Fiero carpeted floor mats. New leather seat covers from Mr. Mikes Fiero. New non-sagging headliner from same. Radio has a CD player. A new custom dash and center console with switches to control all the lights streamline the interior. According to the previous owner the instrument panels were from another car. The faces glow at night. The previous owner reset the odometer to zero at the time of completion of the restoration and the current mileage set at 3900+ miles reflects what the previous owner and what little time I’ve got to drive the car.

Tires are like new, are 16 inch, and show no signs of excessive wear.

Headlights go up and down and the windows go up and down as they should. All lights outside are functional and an additional set of fog lights were added up front controlled by one of the center console switches. There are no check engine lights on. Appears as though all the upper engine sensors were replaced.

The car does have some minor issues that I want to point out. The gas gauge has a mind of its own. Sometimes it works but most of the time it reads empty. Before my back surgery I had the opportunity to drop the tank and could get the float mechanism to work outside the tank but once back in, it went back to its fidgety self. The trip odometer works as does the speedometer so I would just automatically fill the gas tank at 150-160 miles. Sometimes the door popper on the passenger side works and sometimes not. When the door is open you can see the actuator move the inside door handle so maybe just an adjustment would make it work all the time.

A/C has a new compressor but needs to be connected so it is non-functioning at this time.

I believe I have conveyed the condition of this really neat, one-of-a-kind beauty to the best of my knowledge. I hate to have to sell but as stated back surgery has forced me to sell her because I can’t get in or out of her easily and need the money for my medical bills. Reserve price is low so bid with confidence.

Thanks for your interest in my car.
