We Built Excitement -- “PONTIAC” as quoted in 1983 for this year, Pontiac’s commitment to building excitement, has resulted in an overall balance of styling, comfort handing, acceleration and efficiency, every quality working harmoniously to make the total driving experience a visual, sensual, and an “EMOTIONAL RUSH!!!” It has resulted into the Pontiac designed, engineered, and built "TRANS AM."
1983 Pontiac Daytona 500 Trans Am 25th Anniversary Edition with only 48,376 original miles on the car. Try to find another one like this.!!! This model was introduced in September of 1982 and was entered into the retail market place to commemorate the 1983 Daytona 500 Indy Pace Car and this model opened up the race. Most dealers were only offered one of these cars; however, larger dealers had more than one to sell, but Rare.
This particular nearly perfect example has “Every Option” offered. This includes the standard Power Package, Air Conditioning, T-Tops (believe it or not, there were some that did not have these, Automatic Transmission, WS6 Suspension, and the Most Sought after “Turbo Fin Wheels” with the “Pontiac” center script. The White Aero Wheels were standard, and the turbo fins were the optional wheels. There were a total of 2500 vehicles built and not many of these “Examples” Exist in this Condition.
This is a "One Owner" Trans Am from new. I have the original Washington Title and its signed off for the new legal second owner. I have the original window sticker from local Everett Washington Dealer Clyde Revord Motors. Also have original temporary permit that was issed on October 10, 1983. You will not find another Trans Am as well Appointed as this One!
WS6 Special Performance Package: Included the 12.7:1 Quick Steering Ratio, 32mm front / 21mm rear sway bars, four wheel vented disc brakes, turbo cast aluminum wheels and 15” Goodyear Eagle GT Steel-belted high performance radials.
Exterior : Finished in Lacquer White Cotillion Upper (Code # 11/WA3967 ) and Metallic Charcoal Lowers( Code # 84/WA7197 ) with a center strip down the car, this exterior is as nice as it gets for a low mileage car. The paint is original to my knowledge, and I do not see signs of paint repairs, and I am not aware of any. There are a few very very minor nicks & chips that have been professionally touched up. I had the car completely clay bared and waxed at Park Place Motors, a local High End Dealer whom specializes in detail as well. Another nice touch is that the door handles sill have the “Crossfire Injection” script, of which these usually fell off after sitting in the weather. Lastly, the front license plate bracket is not mounted, but is included with the car and can be remounted.
Interior: The Trans Am interior is the place to be when the “Excitement” happens. The best example on this Daytona 500 Trans Am is the Condition of the interior. This car “BOASTS” the best example that I have ever seen. The original “Recaro” front seats boats the Gray “Pig Skin” finished leather inserts with the side bolsters on both the front and right seats that look like nearly as it rolled off the showroom floor. Still has the Original Daytona 500 Script carpet mats and all carpet and head liners look as perfect as they could. Has all of the power options which include power mirror, windows, locks, rear hatch, cruise control, antenna, but also has the Major Options, such as the Formula Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel which still looks like new and is not wrinkled or twisted, as most you see. A few interior upgrades were performed; such as the additional of Map Pockets for both doors (this was an 84' option) and a button to turn off and on the Overdrive, and Mics othe items.
Engine: Since this car is a loaded model, it has the “Crossfire Fuel Injection” 305 V-8 (engine code LUF(3)) that produces 185 HP and ample foot pounds of Torque with the Air Cooled Induction Hood Scoop. The Crossfire Fuel Injection was offered “Only” with a 4 speed Automatic; making this a perfectly rare car.
Mechanical: Being that this is a full loaded car with all of the options, everything works as it should. Cruise control, power door locks, windows, mirrors, antenna, interior & exterior lighting, rear hatch release, rear window defroster, and pop-up head lights are all in working order. Both seat belts retract, rear hatch cover rolls in & out, front hood and rear hatch cover struts work. Transmission shifts in all gears including lock out mode and engine runs smooth and immediately starts right up. Brakes and Tires are brand new completely. Just done in last 6 months. Air Conditioning system operate, blew cold this summer and was recently refilled with R-134A, but I did notice that it needs to be resealed as mentioned by the AC technician when I brought it back two months later; and it was not holding as best at it should). I do not think I missed anything, but if so, please feel free to call or e-mail for any additional answers. I want anyone bidding on the car to know everything possible about it.
The original "Pontiac" Script Center Caps are in a Box and not on the car. These are so rare, that I removed them and replaced them with new WS6 center caps, since I do not want to loose an original. I use the originals for Show Purposes Only.
