How does this car drive? I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere/any time, It's that nice!

Initially delivered to a GM dealership in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and then sold and shipped to a customer (dealer) in the U.S.)This was commonpractice with the 1970 GTO's...especially the convertibles due to the incredible high demand for this car in the U.S.The Pontiac GTO that were sold in the U.S. and Canadawereidentical in 1970.

The 1970 Pontiac GTO was completely restyled. The front reveals the familiar Pontiac split grille while the bumper, wraparound parking and side marker lamps and valance panels were all restyled.Horizontally mounted headlamps extend to the outboard ends, and thewraparound bumper surrounds the split grilles.Theone-piecepanel whichis above the grille and houses the headlamps is known as the "Endura" bumper. John Z. DeLorean, the father of muscle cars (Yes, that guy!) did a commercial when it the bumper originally came out in 1968, hitting it with a sledgehammer, with no damage. This was another first for Pontiac engineers who were the industry innovators and leaders in the use of plastic exterior applications.

The car's profile shows the fresh look of new fenders, doors and rear quarter panels.

The tail lamps wrap around to serve as rear side markers and are mounted in a new bumper.

A wide selection of exterior colorswereoffered in 1970...11 of which were new!

Personally, the 1970 GTO is my all time favorite year, and the best color for any GM car made in 1970 was the Carousel Red which is now on this car. As you can see from the sticker, It originally was Sierra Yellow.

This car has just been painted withvery expensive DuPontsingle stage paint and then shot with 3 coats of Clear.

The entire car was hand worked and air-boarded & sandedto remove any dings, dents or imperfectionsand no bondo was used in the process...only metal. Within the past two months I had it wet sanded and it shines much better than new...frankly, like glass! It is impossible to see any signs that this car was any other color other than it's spectacular Carousel Red.

As good as this car looks...it drives even better. It starts the first time, every time, idles smooth, and the exhaust has that deep rumple of a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V-8.

It does not have it's original radio but does have a great sounding more modern stereo system...I believe it is a Kenwood with a CD player.

Yes, the factory tachometer works great!

It drives great at highway speeds with a fabulous smooth ride and shifts correctly. The car is driven only when the weather is great, which in Denver can be most times of the year, but it only gets out about twice per month. She garners consistent attention, getting pointed at from the side-walkers and as you would expect, she gets "Thumbs Up" and adulation from other drivers. The steering and suspension on this car is nothing short of FANTASTIC. The steering is so responsive & tight that I am fairly certain this car must have a new (original type, probably NOS or New Original Stock) steering box. It was restored the right way which means replacing all of the suspension parts, brakes, steering parts, electrical, etc. that make a car drive and handle great...not just look great. The engine & transmission were rebuilt a few years back and so I had all original Pontiac rockers, lifters and push rods installed to ensure that it is operating as it should.

I purchased the car a couple of years ago and it has been a labor of love and is now time to pass it on to a new owner to be enjoyed for years to come. While in my care, I have made some additional repairs that made the car operate as it should. You may wonder why it would need the additional care, but when it is not used everyday, a car of this age had natural challenges... remember no computer in a car of this vintage! My contributions have included but not limited to;

  • Fuel tank
  • Fuel sending unit
  • Wiper motor
  • Rebuilt original carb
  • Replaced lifters, rockers, pushrods, etc.
  • New rear spring buffers
  • New Master cylinder
  • New Master cyl vacuum unit
  • New brakes all around
  • All new fluids
  • New headlight bezels
  • New interior door and window handles (not shown in the pictures)
  • New center caps on all wheels (not shown in pictures)
  • New rear springs and other suspension updates
  • Beige convertible boot
  • Spare wheel and jack (no spare tire)
  • New front parking light plastic and chrome bezels
  • Replaced rear tail light assembly's due to originals were warn and cracked

I'm sure there are other things I've done, but this what I can recall off the top of my head!

This is a rare opportunity to buy andown a documented real factory built GTO Convertible at well below the market price. If you're interested and have questions, please submit them to me and I will respond quickly.

I was able to see the Y/S stamped on the front of the block whichindicates a 400 cubic inch V-8 with Automatic transmission.

According to Pontiac Historical Services, a total of just 2,173 Pontiac GTO Convertibles were built in 1970 with this engine and transmissioncombination, which also includes the Judge Convertibles as well. It is estimated that 40% have survived, thus less than 1000 remain. Of those I believeonly approx.10% remain in this condition.

Originally Pontiac wanted to make the color "Carousel Red" exclusive to the GTO Model "The Judge"...and here in my opinion represented one of the best Judges known to exist.

This gorgeous factory GTO Convertible that has been beautifully refinished in Carousel Red can be bought for a mere fraction of that price! And I do mean a fraction of that amount!

Collector car insurance is dirt cheap...about $250 per year for a quality collectible like this and you can also buy full

coverage if desired. Please note, they usually require a garage and not more than 2500 miles a year put on the car.

With that said, this car SHOULD be garaged!

I truly believe there isNOsuch thing as a "PERFECT" old car oreven alate modelcar that has been driven,I AM NOT making such a claim...but this caris in beautiful conditionESPECIALLY when you consider it isalmost FIFTY YEARS OLD!

It is foolish to invest your hard earned dollars in clones and fakes... this is a car that you can still drive & enjoy and will increase in value... not decrease in value... and if you chose to... you could drive it every day. We feel very strongly that a car like this will not only hold its value will only continue to increase.

There is no such thing as a "PERFECT" car...especially when dealing with vintage cars that are 25, 35 or 50+ years old.
