Introduced in 1970, the second generation Firebird was only available as a fastback coupe. Designed in tandem with the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird was a popular halo car for the Pontiac range. There were updates and changes nearly every year of production and a variety of engines ranging from Buick V6 to a 455cid V8 to a 4.9L turbocharged V8. While performance was choke by emissions standards of the days, the top end Pontiacs did their best to offer as much performance as possible at an affo...rdable price. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this eye catching 1976 Firebird for your consideration. Finished in Bright Red, this car is in excellent shape overall. The body and paint are in great shape and a number of exterior mods spruce up the exterior. Dual exhaust, hood scoops, hood pins, glass T-tops, tinted windows, 15in American Racing wheels with BFGoodrich tires, and mud flaps bring a little exclusivity. The interior of the vehicle is pretty nice condition, with a crack free dashboard, original vinyl trim, nice black vinyl seats and good door cards. The instrumentations appear to be aftermarket, a large Sunpro tach is mounted to the A pillar, a number of custom mods such as the skull knob on the B&M ratchet shifter, and other small details show this was a well loved car. While it still in great condition, it is not original. This car was originally sold with a 350cid V8, but that was swapped with a rebuilt 400cid V8 that is significantly more powerful. Hooked up to a automatic transmission, this a powerful and excellent sounding combination. It is also equipped with power front disc brakes and power steering for easy and confident handling. Additionally, this car has a new brake booster and power steering pump that were installed in 2015. Having been owned by the same owner for over 30 years, this Firebird holds a special place in the heart of the seller and a good caring home is desperately needed. While not suiting everyone's taste, this Firebird deserves the best it can get!
