1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition Stamped Y84 WS6 Black on Black T- Tops
1979 Pontiac Trans Am -- Description
This is hard to write, But I am going to strong.I in no way want to sell something I love so much, But I have to buy a house and this is the only way.
This is my 1979 Y84 WS6 Trans am Black on Black Bandit. Leather seats, T-Tops and a custom dual exhaust.I have all the Pontiac Historial society docs to prove its authenticity. This is a original Virginia built TA.
I found this in 2012 after years of searching for a true stamped Y84 Special Edition. It was in rough shape and I saved up for 3 years to have the body work done right. I sent it to a Trans am Specialty shop for restoration. I had them take it down to bare metal and make sure allbondo was out of her body. Paint looks like glass!I built the car to be able to go on the Bandit run and just have never been able to go and now I am out of time. The interior is a survivor interior with only one dash tear.I added a new year one headliner and carpet last year. The original motor was not with the car when I found it so I put in a 1979 Stingray Corvette motor.I have spent $5000 in new parts for the bebuilt motor and have driven it maybe 200 miles total ever.I would say this rebuild motor has 100 miles on it.The tires are all new. Breaks are perfect. The motor has Promax heads, New 650 Carb, Intake, double belts, electric fans and added gears for the rear end.I had a new transmission put in last year and a nice new aluminum radiator.New roof rail weather stripping, New door felts, New Stickers and headlights.Drives like a beast and sounds like one too!I have done the hard stuff, It will be up to you to keep it has is, or finish this show car.I have washed the car once since Oct 2015, I was trying to keep it as scarch free as possible. It lives under a car cover in my garage.Wheel has proper Y84 button but NOT the gold wheel.New proper Y84 gear shifter.I am missing the Y84 front grills.Front seats are in ok condition but when you get in you can see where the leather and the cushion open.Rear seats look great.Body is perfect with the exception of the front and rear bumpers having the inevitable spider cracking.I was told the spider cracking would likely happen if I kept the original bumpers but I really wanted the car to stay as original as possible. There is also small air bumps on the hood, I have it at my custom shop now and they are working on wet sanding it out. Trunk pop button works, Trunk carpet is new and there is zero rust on the car anywhere! The wheels are the correct wheels for the Y84 model and I was saving up to have them redone but I am out of time.AC looks like it would work but I never tested it.You can have a $30,000 car if you finish what I started.I am happy to answer any questions at 754-422-1771 Julie
