1979 Pontiac Trans Am Description

For sale is my 1979 gold Trans Am, a diamond in the rough which I am going to miss. This car has had a lot of work done to it and is getting close to reaching its full potential, but it needs an engine rebuild and I can't throw any more money at it. Interior is in good shape for its age, only one dash crack; I have some interior parts for the armrests, seatbelt guides, etc. that I will include with the sale. Big updates include the following:
  • 05/18: Newly rebuilt original transmission with performance part upgrades
  • 04/18: New Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust - sounds awesome
  • 04/18: Upgraded headers
  • 02/18: New set of four BF Goodrich Radial TA tires
  • 03/18: New window motor
  • 03/18: New starter
  • 03/18: New water pump
  • 03/18: New battery
  • 03/18: New belts, hoses and gaskets
  • 05/18: New side marker lights and frames
The transmission was rebuilt by Certified Transmission and has a non-transferable 100K warranty. I have receipts for all the work done that you are welcome to have/review.
Things still to be done:
  • Engine rebuild - the engine spun a bearing about a mile from the garage. Shop pulled the pan and believes cam is still good. Estimated cost to rebuild in my neck of the woods is $5k
  • Finish rust repair and priming and paint body; undercarriage is good and remaining body rust minimal
  • Replace original window and door seals
  • Some gauges are not reading - believe this is due to dirty points but haven't checked out yet
  • AC not working - heater blows hot air but fan speed doesn't adjust
  • Rear sway bar needs to be installed back into its brackets w/new bushings and links
I also have several boxes of parts that I will include with the sale, including a fan and fan clutch to replace the existing fan, which was drawing off hp from the engine. I am open to offers and will be glad to answer any questions you might have about the car, so feel free to message me.
