1969 Pontiac Firebird *Barn find* like a 1969 Camaro
1968 Pontiac Firebird Description
A very easily restorable 1968 Pontiac Firebird. This car runs and drives. It’s been sitting closer to 20 years. It’s only had one paint job since new. It was originally green. I am going to do my best at describing this car. I can send more pics or videos by request so please know what your buying. Come take a look for yourself. Please don’t lowball me. I KNOW the car, interior and drivetrain is worth my reserve of $6,500.Starting underneath- frame rails good shape. Needs pass side shock tower, replaced, floor sections where feet go, outer rockers ( I have new that go with car) subframe good but needs minor work near rear body mount. (I welded washers on my 69 easy) EXTERIOR- Had small dent on front center of hood. Driver fender, pass door 5” repair. Bottoms and corners of doors are GREAT! Doors, hood and trunk close and line up better than my restored 69 Camaro. Pass fender has quarter size hole. Bubbling in front of right rear qtr. Window, drip rail and most Chrome in great shape! Original. Driver mirror, door handles, and front bumper pitting. All glass is very good for age. Minor light scratches. Top is original and in GREAT shape. Drop rail was caulked at some point. My guess it may have started to peel back? Rear bumper better than driver quality. Original wheels and trim rings. Light scratches and a few minor dings. New Cooper tires. INTERIOR- original and beautiful!! Only needs a carpet, headliner and driver seat covered. I did notice a seam tear on top of rear seat. Easy fix. Original keys, radio, wipers etc work. I have original shifter and clock that bolts on center console. Original working horns. Driver armrest top needs replaced. Door panels are amazing as is dash pad. Door panel carpet needs regluing/tucked. ENGINE original #’s matching 9790079 155439 YJ block. 350 Pontiac. Still with points. This car screams. It’ll smoke my 69 Camaro. I wanted it for my son. He’s 6. I don’t have time for another right now. Only reason for sale. That and my wife gets no garage. Engine was built by Haberek’s machine shop in Amsterdam NY. 7K to them plus 3K more in Hooker headers, Edebrock intake, Holley Carb. 10K in motor. It was built a long time ago and the car was never painted. My father’s friend had it sitting, then my brother for the last 5-7 yrs. all indoors. Auto trans. I know nothing about #’s or where to look. Was told original. shifts great. Manual drum all around. Power steering, please know I tried my absolute best to describe this car. Ask any questions. Come take a look. With some painting and clean up under the hood, 2K in body parts and repairs plus a carpet, headliner and driver seat- you’ll have a hell of car worth 25K and climbing. I was going to flat black it myself and run it for a while.
