1978 Pontiac Trans Am Description

1978 Trans Am factory Gold / Tan interior, 4-speed. We bought a couple years ago with the intention of getting road-worthyfor my son(no big restorations) but our plans changed after attending a real-estate auctionin CT and buyinga black 68' GTO, 4 speedconvertible behind the house for sale. So the Trans Ams are going to finance thegto.

We bought the T/Aunder the assumptionthe factory 400 was re-built and ready to go. Which was not thecase asit was re-builtbut the owner stored itwith water and not anti-freeze so the passenger bank split at the dipstick. So we foundanother400 out of VT to re-buildand usednos 80's parts I have kept thru the years: Crane Blazer cam (226/234) 4* Advanced, TRW lifters, Clevite 77 Rods, TRW moly rings, TRW high volume pump,Bond Cam bearings, King tri-metal full grove main bearings, etc. around 9.5 compression, new starter, Edelbrock 750 carb (jetted)and Edelbrock Performer low rise, stock 6X heads.

FactoryBorg/Warner 4-speed still in car (shifter will need re-building though).Does need the usual rust repair, driver quarter, pass door, pass fender (bottom patch). Passengerside quarter done already. I am including P/D door skins, replacement trunk (original is fine), black carpet kit. Seats are there but all needs re-upholst. Power window drivers works, pass needs re-build.Uni-body/mounts looks fine, rear frame rail has some rust on pass side (didn't worry me),trunk floor looks fine. Pass frontwill need patch. The rest has scaly rust but seem solid(POR 15). Posi rear seems fine (brakes were done),fronts will need rotors, etc.

Factory gold tint glass intact (not selling separate). Dash has a few cracks but not enough to replace (for us), tach works. We do not have the factory rad. shroud or headliner. Still has fact exhaust(we were going to do a Summit racing dual kitwith 3 tube headers).

All in all it does need work to complete or possibly a decentparts car,but for usit isoff the radar. Please feel free to ask any questions or stop by to get a look. Thanks.
