1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Description

Equipped with its original big block engine residing under the hood and still clad in its original color both inside and out, this 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am features an unusually high level of authenticity and it carries the PHS documentation to back it up. And talk about collectability? There were under 700 '69 Trans Ams produced in the first place, and most of those have long since fallen by the wayside. It greets the present in very clean condition... in all respects - equally well positioned to provide miles and miles of future memories on the road as it is to rack up hardware on the show circuit. Its Cameo white paint is in top form and the pair of contrasting blue racing stripes running the length of this classic muscle car look as sharp as the day they were first applied. Open one of the doors and you'll see even the door jambs still have a finished, uniform texture to them. It was only two years earlier that the Firebird was first released, and if you step to the front of the car, you'll see this '69 still carries the twin dual headlight configuration, distinctive split grille and slightly pointed nose that set it apart from its rivals. That pair of subtly shaped scoops aren't just there for ornamentation - they're fully functional and part of the Ram Air 3 configuration, sending cold, dense air to the waiting engine below. We get to see our share of well- preserved classics here, but we still can't help but be impressed with just how well-finished this Pontiac is - the chrome trim and badging throughout looks sharp, the glass on all four sides is nice and clear, and all the body panels sit flush. A seriously impressive interior sits inside the doors - refurbished to its original configuration and looking great. The pair of front buckets are wearing fresh looking covers that don't show wear and fit snug, leaving no wrinkles, and you won't even find traces of discoloration from resting elbows on the door panels to each side. Hop into the driver's seat and take a look above, and you'll see a nice tight matching blue headliner. Just beyond the PMD steering wheel, the dash area also looks impressive, with a set of still-functional gauges in the instrument cluster and a fresh-looking dash pad just above that carries no splits. A period-correct AM radio still sits at the center and if you look just below it, you'll see a great-looking burl patterned insert on the center console. The trunk area in back is in just the clean shape you'd expect, based on the rest of the car, and both a full-sized spare and a jack are on hand should the unforeseen ever happen while on the road. The high output 400 cubic inch V8 in the engine compartment is the same one this Firebird started out with. A defining feature of first-generation Trans Ams, it's carrying a full 335 horsepower and is paired up with an also-original 3-speed automatic transmission. Even among well-preserved classics, the engine compartment stands out - the silver paint on the engine matches nicely with its chrome valve covers and you can't help but notice the distinctive Ram Air gasket encircling the carb. Curious as to whether the undercarriage matches the same high standards found elsewhere? Rest assured, it does. It may look every inch like a museum piece brought straight off a display turntable, but this Trans Am is well suited for the road as well, with its power steering combining with power brakes to provide easy navigation and dependable stops as cruises on its set of 14" PMD tires, outfitted with Goodyear Polyglas tires. Its numbers matching originality and well-restored condition make this 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am a seldom-encountered opportunity. Call today!
