1992 Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix Pace Car
Up for bid is a 1992 Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Pace Car. As you can see, this is dressed just like the actual pace car from 1992. It is mint condition with just over 68,500 miles. This is not the actual pace car, as that was a GTP, but it may have been either a parade car or the decals were added by the dealer. Either way, it looks great. It even has a functioning strobe light.
I bought this car last year from a dealer in Iowa. I actually traded it for a rare 1980 mint condition Pontiac Firebird Yellowbird that has actually popped up for sale on eBay for $22,000 (everyone has a dream, I guess). The pictures are from that ad as I could never replicate the quality. I have only put about 20 miles on the car, taking it to a few local shows this spring. I have a bunch of projects, so the money from this sale will be a big help…if it sells. If not, I will keep it and play with it. I have also included a shot in my garage as well as the NYS license plate.
The car was originally sold in Illinois, then spent about 10 years or so in a private collection museum in Colorado. Then to the dealer, and then me. The original window sticker and letters are framed and included.
I also have the following items that I will include: Daytona 500 STP jacket in XL, STP Richard Petty jacket in XL, and Two 1992 Daytona 500 license plates (I used one at shows on the front). I also have other items that I will make available like an an entire set of the 1992 Richard Petty farewell 1:64 cars, Frankin Mint Car, signed 1/24 car, posters, etc.
If you would like to chat about the car or need more pics etc, send me your number through messages and we can talk. Only known issues with the car: the driver door has a small crack in one of the trim pieces and the same issue as all GPs, the low fuel indicator will stay on sometimes.
Thanks for your interest and bid to own. As you can see I am over 1000 feedback and 100% positive!
