GTO TRIBUTE street car sold as rolling chassis, ( NO MOTOR )
1965 Pontiac Tempest Description
I am selling my 1965 Tempest, ( with out the motor and with out the torque converter ) this is a 1965 Tempest I bought 8 years ago and spent 2 and a half years building into a 1965 GTO tribute, fast street car. It is badged as a GTO, and the only way to tell its not a GTO is buy looking at the VIN number. I have drove it 13,000 miles as you see it. I am selling it without the Small Block Chevy Motor, and without the torque converter. That is all you will need to get this car running. It would take $15,000 for me to replace the motor, if you really want the motor we could discuss that option. I plan on pulling the motor and the converter after the car sells, so it will be a rolling chassis that will need to be trailered. There isn't any rust anywhere, the paint is in good condition, this is not a show car, the body and paint are the quality of a drag car, not a show car. For the last 5 years I have been driving it on nice days only and to work on Fridays during the summer. I drive it 95 miles to the local drag strip and open the NOS bottles and running mid 10`s and then drive it home. It has been mini tubbed and still has the back seat, has a fiberglass hood and front bumper. It has a complete exhaust system exiting in front of the rear tires and jet hot coated hooker fender well headers. The interior and the trunk have been trimmed out in real carbon fiber. It has lexan side windows, the front windows still roll up and down. Glass rear window and new glass windshield. there is no heater or windshield wipers. It has a 2"x4" box frame from front to back and a 12 point roll cage. All disk brakes. A two plate NOS system with progressive controller. It has a built Chevy Turbo 400 transmission with a trans brake and reverse manual valve body. A dana 60 rear end built with a new Posi unit and Moser 35 spline axles and 3.55 gears. Weld bead lock rims with drag radial DOT tires, and a chromoly 4 link suspension. Tubular A-arm front suspension, and coil over shocks all the way around. I put the radiators and 4 cooling fans in the back of the car to improve weight distribution and traction, there is 1500 lbs. on the front wheels and 2100 lbs. on the rear, this allows the car to pull the front tires 2 feet off the ground on the street and 6 feet off the ground at the track, dragging the rear bumper. I know a lot of people say their car can do this, but this one actually does and has for years. I set up the front suspension to handle it. I have never damaged the front end driving it this way, there is still rubber left on the bottom of the rear bumper from the track. buyer pays shipping. I have the title. I would be glad to answer any questions. I only answer ebay messages, do not try to E-mail me, thanks. I am selling it to fund my next car project. Sorry, no trades.
