1967 pontiac grandprix convertible 4speed
1967 Pontiac Grand Prix Bucket seats with 4speed and console Description
Up for auction is my beautiful 1967 white pontiac grandprix convertible. This car was bought brand new and stayed in the same family until i purchased it. I have all the orginial documents, build sheets, protecto plate, car dealership sales reciept, and manuals, etc. (see pics). I decided to take this car to a restoration shop and had them do a factory correct conversion to turn this car from a boring mundane automatic to a legit factory correct rare 4speed. No aftermarket parts were used! I bought a 1967 pontiac grandprix 4speed donor parts car to do a complete factory correct 4speed conversion. Everything was either restored and or bought brand new to complete this car. I spent and have aprox. 18,000 dollars in parts reciepts and labor. Everything on this car is almost brand new like in 1967 when it came from the factory! There is way to many parts to list. The restoration shop also changed out the automatic console interior and put in the newly reconditioned orginial mint 4speed console interior and dash componets plus a new white convertibile top. The 4 speed console however does have alittle pitting due to age. The chrome was not fully replated but cleaned and buffed and plastic areas painted. (see pics). This conversion project was a huge undertaking and very expensive! This car still wears its 52 year old laquer pearl white paint. It has some dings, tiny ding dents, paint bubbles, scratches and some lower area respray and noticeable older touchups. Both rear quarter panel wheel wells appear to have some very little bondo work done. (see pics) Nothing serious according to what the bodyman at the restoration shop said. There is some cracking on the fender skirts paint that are on both sides of the quarters. Basically this car is what you would call a 10 or 20 footer. It depends on how picky you are.....Its an orginial 52 year old factory shiney lacquer paint job with imperfections due to the older touchups and rear wheel well repair and age! (If you are a purist or a perfectionist then this car may not be the right fit for you due to the orginial paint and previous owner older touchups and some older bondo repair and imperfections). The chrome is beautiful considering age. No pitting or wear.Very nice. The clock and gas gauge do not work. The reverse lights work but need to be hooked up to the adapter switch which goes on the manual transmission. The car still obtains running its automatic rear gears of 2.93 . I have not changed the rearend orginial gears. This does not have a posi traction rearend. Also the power brakes are very touchy. (New power booster and master cylinder included with car) Also one of the rear right emergency brake cables needs replaced. I have all the new parts that will either go with this car so you can install them. Or I'll have it done sometime at my expense if this car does not sell. It also seems the Undercarriage still wears its orginial factory black undercoating. Peeling and some surface rust in some areas such as the frame, rockers, under neath sections of front and rearend areas. I badged this car up a 428 because i was planning to put one in it and then have the car painted. Even though it doesn't need it in my opinion!! No holes were drilled in the body or interior console for the 428 emblems! (strong double sided tape used). Anyway, I couldn't find a good 428 motor. This car still has its matching number 400 cubic in. 350 horse power engine. The engine bay is very clean and sanatary and i even put a nice set of correct new pontiac chrome valve covers and a chrome open element air cleaner with correct decals. Its a very nice cruiser and attracts alot of attention ! The 400 cubic in. 350 horse power engine with a two year old tune up and period correct parts rounds out this engine in factory stock performance and stock apperance, and it sounds and drives amazing while going through the gears. This car's entire engine was not rebuilt. They did a compression check, among other things and said it didn't need it. However its still in stock form and
runs like a swiss clock. The heads were redone at some time ago as I was told as the ethenol unleaded gas changes came. I also bought a brand new carter afb 600 cfm 4 barrel carb which was installed. (Same as factory original carb). It runs quiet and it drives tight with no issues. It runs 93 gas unleaded octane always! I did not build this car for racing! All drivetrain parts were bought period correct for this conversion and engine components ! This car is and always has been the belle of the ball at any car show, cruz in, or auction i take it too! Especially when i put the top down! Why you say? Its unique and extremely rare in itself but with this factory correct 4speed conversion its a jaw dropping sensation to any car guy or anyone whos never seen one before! Its truley a game changer in the grandprix community of those who have one! In all my years i have never seen one before not even at Carlisle, Barrett Jackson, or Mecum! And never at any classic car shows or any pontiac classic car shows for that matter! The ones I did see were all automatics, never any 1967 pontiac grandprix 4speed convertibles. If you have any questions just call me and i will be happy to answer all the details of this conversion and the parts that were used to complete this super rare 4speed factory conversion. I also have a stock new exhaust system, power brake booster, master cylinder, air shocks, and exhaust manifold gaskets (original gaskets are not leaking, they came with new exhaust system) that are still in their boxes and still needs to be installed. Plus all the orginial parts that were taken off this car will go with the car buyer. I am not giving this car away! So please dont waste my time or yours with trades or lowball offers. There were only 205 4speed grandprix convertibles produced in 1967. I was told 10 years ago that only 11 or less are registered with the P.H.S. at that time. Its taken me 5 years to build this car correctly even with a donor car. As you can read, of course this is just my opinion but this car is still not completed perfectly with the new parts that need to still be installed. Parts for these full size 1967 manual shift pontiacs are rare and truley non-existent, and if you do find them the parts are so expensive most would not even attempt to do a correct 4speed conversion especially doing one on a 1967 pontiac grandprix convertible! Im over 60 years old and I described this car as honest and to the best of my ability. Here's your chance to buy a unique piece of history and own a 1967 all orginial converted stock pontiac 400-4bblbig blockgrandprix convertible 4speed that only come along once or twice in a lifetime! Please call and ask for Pete 814 368-5938 serious offers. Car comes with clear antique title! All sales are final. No returns. No garrenntees or warrennttes implied. Sold as-is. Note: I actually hate to sell this car! But due to health issues and mounting medical bills and the wife's new car coming soon, i really need the garage space. This is a very special car to me. I had no plans of ever selling this rolling work of art! I was just going to add to it until it was completely restored! Im sure nobody and i mean nobody will have seen or have one at any car show or auction at anytime soon. There out there but for a heavy price of 50,000 to 80,000 dollars for restored examples! They dont hardly come off those prices!! Even the know it all pontiac grandprix purists cant tell the difference! Unless they know what to look for! You can take these parts and pay to have them installed yourself. The price of the car will vary! In other words it will be your gain and my loss. Donor car does not come with this listing. Its sold! Thank you for your time to read all of this. Remember this is a driver quality car. Not a # 1 restored show car or trailer queen! And its 52 years old! But it would be better if you called. Again this car will not be used or driven during this auction! It will be detailed and clean when buyer recieves it! Thanks again and God Bless to one and all and happy bidding!!On May-19-19 at 10:28:17 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: i reserve and have the option and right to end this auction early because this car is being sold locally!
