1968 Pontiac GTO -- Description

The GTO needs very little introduction as it has a very strong history in the automotive world. With a very strong run for 10 years and some very unique features and configurations, these were highly sought after by all age groups. The 1968 GTO was so highly regarded and such a fun driving vehicle that Motor Trend named it "Car of the Year" in '68. Offered here is a very stunning and well sorted and restored '68 GTO finished in... Solar Red with black interior. The car was cared for and very nicely restored in 2002 thru 2004 by Buhr Body Shop in Neosho MO. This car has been owned by the same family for over 44 years and just recently removed from long term storage. The car was produced in Feb of 1968 on the 2nd week of the month and built in the Pontiac MI factory. Car was built as a GTO coupe as it is today, however it was originally Verdora Green and when restored was completely stripped and sanded and restored in the vibrant Solar Red that was an option in 1968. The interior remained the correct black interior with wood trim. This car is in exceptional condition and not only looks great, but performs properly and is a joy to drive. The 61k miles that show on the odometer are original according to the previous owner and has only logged about 1,000 miles since its restoration. There wasn't any section of the car that wasn't touched when restored; interior, exterior, trim, engine, transmission, gauges, and wear items were all either replaced, rebuilt or corrected. This car shows and drives very well. The doors line up accurately, trunk and hood latch fit perfectly and the performance of this 60's muscle car is something that all should enjoy once in their lifetime. The dual exhaust sounds very respectful and after a 30min cruise was running even better and no sign of overheating or fatigue. All lights were working properly, heat blew warm, wipers functioned properly, and radio crackled and randomly picked up some AM tunes. Vehicle comes with a thick file of receipts of parts and you will be proud to show up at any national car show with anticipation of bringing home a trophy. The bucket seats, dual-gate shifter, American Racing wheels, and superior attention to detail will make you a proud owner to show off your new ride.
