This 1968 GTO is a rare and desirable Ram Air I model. It is one of only 650 special 4 speed Ram Air I GTO's built in 1968
The Ram Air I package consisted of: Special "D port" cylinder heads, special cold air induction sysyem, exhaust manifolds and hi-lift camshaft, a close ratio 4 speed and hevy duty Safe-T-Track 4.33:1 rear axle.
Built at the Pontiac Assembly Plant in Pontiac, Michigan on 12/12/1967. It was then shipped to Bill Cox Pontiac, Inc., in Logansport, Indiana doe delivery to the first owner. This car then led a pampered life for the next forty years.
The car received a recent restoration and was completed earlier this year. It was disassembled and stripped to bare metal by Ice Nine Customs in Clinton Twp, Michigan. The body of this vehicle was gone over from front to back and the body fit is lasrer straight and better than new. Once the body was prepared everything was given a fresh coat of the correct Meridian Turquoise (code KK), using the best modern DuPont base coat clear coat paint.
The 400cid Ram Air I engine (code XS) block was honed and new pistons, rings and bearings installed. The crank was checked and lightly refinished. Therare Ram Air I "31" cylinder heads were checked and given a valve job, along with new valves and valve springs. Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of correct Pontiac silver-blue engine paint.
No stone was left unturned and the black bucket seat interior was completely redone, using nothing but the best or correct materials. All instruments and gauges were checked for operation. The restoration on this GTO is "factory correct", right down to the correct style Firestone Wide Oval red-stripe tires.
The car comes with a complete set of the (PHS) Pontiac Historic Services paperwork and Pontiac Division window sticker.
