Paint and Chrome
The first thing that jumps out about this GTO is its high quality paintwork, a color-change re-spray in Liberty Blue, which was a 1969 GTO color. The original color was red. The paint is in such excellent condition it could have been done yesterday.
The chrome and stainless trim is in very good to excellent condition. All of the windows are tinted and in great condition.
The body of the car is free of any apparent rust issues, and on close examination of the underside shows it to be similarly clean of corrosion.
· Interior
The Parchment interior was also restored and, as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations. The car has bucket front seats and a console. The matching door panels are in excellent condition and the dash pad is free of cracks or sun damage.
All of the gauges (oil pressure, temperature and amp) work, as does all of the safety equipment (lights, wipers, horn, seat belts, etc.). The tachometer and speedometer are also functioning.
This GTO was factory equipped with air conditioning. The picture of the engine might show it disconnected, but it is now connected and working properly.
· Engine
This Pontiac came from the factory with the 400 cubic inch V-8 producing 350 h.p., with dual Flowmaster exhausts. It is not the original engine that came in the car, but it is period correct. There is a Pertronix electronic ignition installed in the distributor for greater reliability as well as performance. The engine compartment is also partially detailed.
The engine starts right up and runs well, providing the entire thrill that the big 400cu inch engine from Pontiac is famous for.
· Transmission
The Muncie 4-speed transmission is in perfect working order. It up-shifts and down-shifts easily and is the perfect mate for the powerful engine. Driving this car is made more enjoyable by the ease with which the transmission shifts. A rear main oil seal and a new clutch was installed in February, 2013.
· Rear End/Brakes/Wheels
The front brakes are disc brakes and the rear brakes are drum. The Rally II wheels were restored and new trim rings have been installed.
51,500 miles, but I can't say it is actual because of the age of the car. I have owned it for almost four years and put about 1,500 miles on it. I am selling it because I only have a one car garage and want to park one of my other cars in there. I really don't drive the car enough to warrant keeping it.
