1965 Pontiac GTO Description

This car is a PHS Documented 1965 Pontiac GTO 4-Speed Tri-Power Convertible with a white top and white interior. The color is “IRIS MIST” and if you are a Pontiac person then you already know the story of this color. It is the exact match of a model car that I saw over 30 years ago when I started my search.

The car has been restored a few years back and the engine was rebuilt 6 years ago right before I purchased the car. When I purchased the car, I sent out the intake and carburetors to a professional restorer to restore them. The car was born with an automatic and a 4-barrell carburetor and was changed to a tri power and a four speed. I have the original intake and carburetor that goes with the car. The tri power intake and carbs are tagged and with the correct date codes. The engine and rear end are original to the car. I added aftermarket “HURST WHEELS” and was told that the only difference between these wheels and the original are rivets vs screws in the back of the wheels. The replacement wheels were not cheap. The under carriage is perfect as well. I spent one winter removing all of the undercoat from the car and it was painted the current black color, which is flawless. I also called in an old school Pontiac detailer who was out of state to spend a Sunday afternoon in my backyard to paint a pin stripe on the car as detailed on the pictures. Tilt steering was also added prior to my purchase of the car. No expense was spared in my ownership of this car.

The car has won numerous awards if you are interested in going to shows as depicted in the pictures. The color combination is perfect and in the sun, the car looks silver and in the dark, it looks more of a deep purple. This color is referred to as “IRIS MYSTERY” for this very reason.

I replaced top last summer and purchased a new boot as well. The car comes with a high-end car cover and a set of Rally rims and trims if you do not want to use the Hurst Wheels. Ya right! The documentation pictured as well also goes with the car. There is also an original 1965inspection sticker on the windshield? Yes, it is NOT a copy and is the real thing. If you look at the passenger, side visor and you are a Pontiac person you will see a familiar name. Jim Wangers was as excited as I was to see this car in my possession.

This car will not disappoint in looks or drivability and runs very well. I will be sad to see her go but it is time for a new owner to enjoy her as I have. If you are looking for the prettiest 1965, GTO with the most desirable options then this car this is the one you want.

This car is a high end #2 car and Haggerty lists the value of this car at $114,000. This car is the complete package with all the extras. Just get in and drive and you won’t be disappointed!!!

If you are looking for a 1965 GTO in Iris Mist then you won’t find a better package than this one at this price. I am looking forward to talking to the buyer of this car!!
