1972 Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO one owner Survivor
1972 Pontiac Trans Am Description
This 1972 Pontiac Trans Am survivor is very rare due to the factory shut-down in April of 1972. Manufacture date is January of 1972 out of the Norwood, Ohio, plant and my uncle purchased the vehicle in February off the showroom floor at Quality Pontiac in Albuquerque, NM. He is unable to drive it anymore and it needs to be with someone who appreciates this classic muscle car (which has lived its whole life in New Mexico). We have the original title issued April 3, 1972. Pontiac produced 1286 Trans Ams in 1972 and only 458 with the Muncie 4 speed manual transmission. See the photo of factory specs. for more information.Condition:Original parts and matching numbers are here. Starts easily, runs strong and solid. This car has never been restored so has not been taken apart. The unrestored condition will be a big plus to the right buyer. Choose only the best technicians for any restoration. I drove it down the road recently and am still amazed at everything about this car. I can't find another 1972 TA in this close to original condition for comparison.Uncle changed the carburetor within the first few years but saved the original Rochester in a box so it will be included in the sale (Holley also included in box but Edelbrock quadrajet is installed). Some suspension parts were changed out in the 90’s but all original parts were kept. Front grill guard was repainted in the 70’s due to paint chips from road debris. Stored in a climate controlled shop since 1976. Driver’s seat has sun damage where it is near the window (adhesive residue from old duck tape repair makes it worse). Some cracks in the dash are also from sun. There has been touch up work done around the back window where a metal sun shade was once attached. Some paint repair also around the license plate where gas nozzles chipped. We also have the original window cranks but one is damaged. There is a dimple on the passenger side rear fender and a small paint chip on the driver's side rear fender. See pictures that show these imperfections. Also exhaust manifolds were replaced recently. Found part of original distributor and looking for the rest.Specs:VIN 2V87X2N524518Engine: 455 HOTransmission: 4 speed “M22 Rock Crusher”Air conditionerAM radioRally wheelsMiles: 67967 Purchase includes parts never installed: four new wheel ornaments still in boxes, a new hood to cowl seal, roof rail w/strip and new bird decal for front grill surround plus a box of assorted seals, etc. I have photos of all these if you need to see them.Air conditioner is not listed on the spec sheet from factory, so it must have been done after purchase. After digging in the old file cabinet I found paperwork for this vehicle.
