1959 Pontiac Bonneville Bubble Top Sport Coupe Description

1959 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe

389 V8 4bbl Automatic, Odometer currently shows 00024. (turned)

This Pontiac has been with a private collection in central Indiana for about 2 decades. The owner was an avid Pontiac enthusiast and showed many of his cars at dozens of events around the area for 40 years. He purchased this Bonneville from the lower Michigan area and brought it home on a trailer. It sat covered on the trailer for many years. About 4 years ago, he started the car up and drove it onto the drive way and let it sit. It was last started about 1 year ago. I purchased the car recently, due to my fondness for Pontiacs, and quickly realized I do not have the time for another restoration currently. The motor is free and turns with a key, but working on spark and fuel this week.

The 389 engine is stamped numbers matching to the VIN. The engine retains the original intake and heads, while the exhaust manifolds are vintage 3-tube headers. The cooling system does not leak, but also has not been pressurized. I have pulled the plugs, lubed the cylinders, for caution, and with a battery, the engine cranks smoothly with the key. Plugs and wires have been re-installed. The exhaust system needs replaced. Rear brakes have been removed (locked up) . Will need one replacement drum. Power Steering and Power Brakes.

The trunk and floor pans retain about 70-80 percent original metal and has been patched with pieces of metal in various areas. Tire jack appears to be the original. The body has rust along all lower areas. Custom patch rocker panels were installed. The front fenders are heavy duty vintage fiberglass pieces. They have clearly been on the car for decades - maybe since the 60s? One replacement door glass and 4 hubcaps are included with purchase.

It is a factory black car and I believe all original paint except for fenders. Most of the factory original maroon/ivory/mahogany upholstery is cleaning up very well, while the front lower needs to be disassembled and new inserts created.

Overall, with the exception of the fenders and headers, it is VERY ORIGINAL with minimal alterations. It needs restoration in every area, but represents as a largely complete and non-restored vehicle.

This car is offered with a clear title. It is very worthy of a proper restoration. Asking for serious offers. Not interested in restoration project trades. Possible cheap transport can be arranged in the Michigan/Ohio/Indiana region.
