The Backstory:
This 1979 “Silver Anniversary” Trans-Am is a true one-owner survivor. The car was purchased by my brother at Russo Pontiac in Port Chester, NY in April of ’79. Shortly afterward, he moved to New York City and the car remained garaged at our parent’s house. It was driven on weekends…mostly be me…for the next 26 years. When my mom sold her house, my brother stored it at mine. He had a major service performed at B&A Auto in 2004 (summary below, and service records included). The car has only 29K original miles. It starts immediately, drives, steers and stops flawlessly, and the A/C blows cold. The 6.6 liter 403 V8 engine pulls strong and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. It’s a true time capsule

Known issues:
As you’d expect from any 41 year old original car, the paint has some imperfections which are shown in the photos - original decals. There is some surface rust on the bare metal surfaces in the undercarriage and engine compartment, but the frame and structure are solid. The driver’s door was repainted due to a ding it received while in the shop. The driver’s seat upholstery was replaced with the correct pieces, and the (uninstalled) passenger cover is included with the car. Some of the interior parts show a bit of cracking or discoloration, and the tachometer is currently not functional.
I’m now downsizing and my brother wants to sell the car. We’re offering it at a fair reserve. It comes complete with several original keys, window sticker, bill of sale, manuals and silver anniversary promo materials. It also includes the original radio/8-track, floor mats, T-roof covers, jack and spare.
An unrestored one-owner, low mileage, 1979 Silver Anniversary Trans-Am with documentation is about as rare as these cars get. Thanks for checking it out and good luck bidding!
