1955 Pontiac Catalina Star Chief Custom Catalina Hardtop Description

"Lucy" is an exceptional 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Catalina located in Northern California, an hour north of San Francisco in Sonoma County. We have owned this car for nine years, and it has been well loved, but unfortunately we have to reduce our antique car collection.
This Star Chief is a top of the line "Star Chief Custom Catalina", and includes many available options, including the 287 CI "Strato-Streak" V8 (an entire rebuild five years ago), rare wire wheel covers, optional exhaust tip, tissue dispense, "Dual Range" Hydramatic transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes (master cylinder was re-built 5 years ago), Stainless Steel skirts, nearly new Firestone 710/15 wide wall tires (less than 1 year old), illuminating Indian Head hood ornament to name a few. The original tube radio and all items on the car work well; there is also a newer radio / CD player that is hooked up to period correct chrome speakers on the rear package shelf.
This Pontiac was California built (LA Plant, and sold new by Tyson Pontiac in San Diego in February of 1955; I have the original letter from Tyson to original owner. The car has won several awards in the past, and has been featured on the cover of the national Classic Pontiac Club's magazine (the car comes with both of these documents).
The car has a low 78,000 miles on her; the only issues of note is that the older repaint is showing its age; on close inspection it is starting to de-laminate in two (2) sections - small areas on the lower rear quarter panel, and one small area under the passenger side headlight. As such, the reserve price is low, even for a car of this caliber and rareness. She turns LOTS of heads and gets TONS of compliments.
