400HO 4 speed. PHS Documented High Output
1967 Pontiac GTO Description
PHS Documented 400HO (High Output) 4 speed manual GTO. Regimental Red with Black interior and black pinstripe. This car is a 400 cubic inch High output with a Muncie wide ratio M20 trans. It was optioned with rally gauges, center console, power brakes, ride and handling package and a Safe T Track 3.55 rear end. This car would have come with black steel wheels, poverty caps and the optional redline wide oval tires. To state the obvious, this car needs a full restoration. It will need a 1 piece floor, trunk floor, lower 1/4's, lower fender patches, decklid, hood and dash. The inner fender wells appear to be okay along with the dutchman panel and sails around the rear window. The car sat in a field since the late 1980's so the bottom of the car is rotted, but seems surprisingly solid up top. The frame has rot spot in the front drivers side frame horn. I thoroughly examined the frame today and the rails look solid with no holes present. The center of the trans crossmember is rotted out however so it will need to be replaced. Most of the interior parts are there including seats, headliner bows, rearview mirror and 4 speed pedals. The bucket seats present are from a 1964 GTO but I have a 2 sets of 1967 A body buckets. 1 set is from a GTO, the other is from a Chevelle. I will trade seats with the buyer if they want proper 1967 bucket seats. Somebody gutted the tach and gauge cluster out of it years ago. The front and back bumper are in nice shape and can be rechromed. It is important to note that the engine in the trunk is not for sale with the car as it is a 1967 YS code 400 which is improper for this car's application. This vehicle is also sold with a bill of sale, no title, although I can help with the titling process as I have done it before. The location of this vehicle is Southern New Hampshire but I can arrange for transport to Albany NY if interested (I live in both New Hampshire and New York). Included in the pictures is another Regimental Red on Black 400 HO 4 speed car which is very similar to this car. It rolled through auction this past winter and did not meet reserve at $65,000. This car is rough but I have seen and personally brought back worse. The rarity and restored value of this car deems it worth saving. I know where a proper WS 1967 HO block is available for sale if the buyer is interested in doing a date and letter coded restoration. 1967 M20's are a dime a dozen so that's easy to find but if the buyer needs help I can assist with that as well. My reserve is more than fair as I am a motivated seller trying to liquidate some of my collection before snow flies. $500 PayPal deposit due within 48 hours of auction end and either cashiers check, cash or bank transfer due before or upon pickup.
