1966 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont Description

1 of 274 Convertibles built in 1966

This is a very rare piece of GM history. Built in Canada, where due to tariff issues, the GTO was not available. These cars were built in the Chevrolet plant on the Chevelle platform, with some Pontiac styling. They were sold through Pontiac dealers as the substitute for the GTO.

From the factory, this car had a stunning color combination. Black exterior, red interior, and white top.

  • New power convertible top. Works excellent

  • Original 327 4bbl and powerglide auto trans

  • New and correct red upholstery. These cars were equipped with Chevelle seat upholstery, and Pontiac Tempest dash and door panels

  • Needs trunk pan replaced. I have a factory original one, that is included.

  • Updated to front power disk brake

  • Front suspension and steering completely rebuilt

  • Priced well below what a comparable Chevelle convertible would sell for

Body is straight, but finishing body work is needed, along with panel alignment. Looks like all body panels are original to the car, and small amounts of rust repair have been done. Bottoms of doors look good, and still have visible seam. Lower quarters have been patched, and appear to have been done correctly, as the lower spot welds are still visible. The floor pan was replaced a long time ago, with one from a donor car, and appears very solid. Small rust hole in the rear seat area. Frame is very solid with only minor surface rust. I have the rear seat, and matching upholstery, but the seat springs are not in good shape. I also have the correct matching rear door panels. I don't believe the car was factory equipped with AC, but someone did install factory AC components under the dash, and engine side. However, no compressor, or condenser, hoses, etc. Windshield is cracked, side windows have some pitting.

All in all, this is a fun driver that is waiting to be taken to the next level. Replace the trunk pan, and finish body and paint. The car would be absolutely stunning in it's correct colors. The extra parts will be included, but unless you are local, may be difficult to ship.

If you are seriously interested in the car, or interested in a "Buy It Now" option, please give me a call to discuss. I am in no huge hurry to get rid of the car, but I believe I have priced it very fairly for a serious buyer. If this was a basic Chevelle convertible in this condition, the car would probably bring over $20k.

Please call me with any questions. I have no problem spending any amount of time on the phone to make sure this is the right car for you. The future of the car is very important to us, it needs to be given the attention it deserves. If you are looking at this auction, you probably typed in "Beaumont" in your search, and know what you are looking at.
