1970 GTO Factory 455 HO, M21 4 speed, Factory Special Order 3.55 gear, factory hood tach, Formula wheel and walnut shift knob car. Originally a Baja Gold car. Only 1761 455 HO 4 speed car were built very few with the special order 3.55 gear. Less than a handful I am aware of. 455HO's are rarer than ram air III cars. Car was in dry storage from Winter 98 until summer of 15.
Car is number matching and will come with the Dealer installed SR block that was installed during its warranty. Motor features most all its factory correct parts, Air cleaner w/ new lid, rebuilt 0267 carb, 0234 intake, 64 heads, 2012 distributer with upgraded pertronix, new coil, new plugs and wires, upgraded Ram Air Restorations RA exhaust manifolds, New Pypes exhaust system, Flex Fan. Current YC 1971 455 standard bore short block has been reconditioned with new oil pump, timing chain, can shaft and lifters, push rods, rocker arms. Motor keeps 20# at hot idle and always is better than 45# under any acceleration. Runs and drives as it should very strong runner.
Number Matching M21 trany has new fluid and in 2015 a new center force orange clutch and throw bearing where installed.Factory shifter still move sit thru the gears, The original XH 3.55 12 bolt rear end still resides under the car with fresh oil in there. Under carriage was undercoated in the 80's and touched up over the years. No issues under the car frame not rusted out on the dog legs like some GTO get. I just drove this car 500 miles from Saginaw MI to Back to the Bricks in Flint and then to Woodward Dream Cruise wereit drove, stopped and performed very well.
A set of 15x 6 Rally II are on the car and where reconditioned in 2015 with new center caps and rally lug nuts. They are fitted with 225/70/15 Cooper Cobras. I do have JA's that have been blasted and primed. But finding 14" tire is getting difficult and expensive.
Other features include newer big four core radiator never gets close to hot. Factory hood tach car and works as it should. After market oil pressure and Temperature gauges. Gas gauges has mind of its own. Gas tank was replaced in the 94 and is in good condition.
The Interior is very nice and features a mostly original but has new PUI seat covers and new Walnut shift knob as optioned, new console lid, new sill plates, don't see any cracks in the dash.
The car has been painted blue with metallic in the clear coat since some time the in the 80's but presents pretty well considering the age of the restoration/paint. The Quarters was replaced with NOS units sometime in the 80's, small amount of rust restarted. The rest of the sheet metal I assuming is original to the car and looks to be in good usable condition. Hood may be the worse with some rust holes on the back side. The paint has a fair amount of chips and dings from its year of service as daily transportation in the 80's and early 90's. Rocker moldings were new in 15. I replace the trunk floor and drivers floor board in 1994. Trunk rusted out because of poor seal on the back window. Drives floor board rusted out because there is a leak somewhere by the front cowl I never found. The car has not sat out in the weather since the mid 90's always garaged and driven occasionally. I have known about the car since the late 80's and owned it in 95/96 and 2015 to present and it never had a vinyl top on it until I reinstalled it in 2015. Top is not rusted out, two small repairs where done in 2015 in the window channel nothing more that pencil sized holes. Guy I bought it form said the car was painted maroon before he painted it blue.
