1985 Porsche 911 factory “Turbo Look” offered here was ordered via Porsche's “Sonderwunsche”or "Special wishes" program.
The “Sonderwunsche” allowed Porsche's clients, for a price, to personalize their cars from the factory with one off options and modifications to their desire.
The extensive documentation indicates that this M491 Wide Body Carrera was special ordered by importer, Prototype Imports, Inc., New York, NY and built for a Hollywood actor, producer, ROD TAYLOR.
The car was ordered in black over champagne / black leather interior. It came equipped with the Turbo Look Package, Sport Seats with Electric Height Adjustment, Higher Amperage Battery, Limited Slip Differential, Passenger Side Mirror, Blaupunkt Radio 'Koln', Cruise Control, Air Conditioner, Green Graduated Tint Windshield, Electric Sunroof, Equipment for Germany, polished Fuchs and Dunlop Tires. Also, courtesy of Porsche's “Sonderwunche” Program, the car was factory modified with Rear Wheel Vents and Side Skirts on the Rocker Panels and DP style mirros
According to the importation documentation, the deal was facilitated by Hans Schroder Porsche of Durin, W. Germany as original selling dealer and the importation and final sale of the car was handled by prototype imports of New York. The Porsche was checked in at Hans Schroeder Porsche 2-27-85, then transported to port in Bemerhanven, W. Germany. The vehicle was loaded on the vessel “Spica” March 17th, 1985, and shipped via the Panama Canal to the Port of Los Angeles on which it arrived April 11, 1985. Richard Garcia CHB was the customs broker from where the car was delivered to the owners agent on May 2 1985. On June 19, 1985, the vehicle was issued its original and still valid California Pink Slip. The vehicle remained in the hands of the original owner, where it received consistent care and maintenance until our recent acquisition. Today, the car remains in excellent condition.
The Mid 80's Porsche Wide Body cars are arguably the best and most aggressive body styled 911 to this day. With surging demand for vintage Porsche's, and one of the few marquee's gaining value, well sorted cars with excellent owner history such as this will always have a demand. The M491 non-turbo cars have gained much respect among collectors and enthusiasts alike as they are a much more balanced than is turbo charged cousin, and possess the pure drivability that Porsche has long been famous for. This one off, special order Carrera possesses excellent owner history and provenance. Documentation includes COA,TITLE or pink slip, original order, correspondence between all parties encompassing: vehicle order, order changes, original dealer invoice, importation, transportation, and delivery. The car was recently converted from kilometers to miles for us by Palo Alto Speedometer and documentation verifies the mileage as accurate and Original factory option sticker, Porsche C.O.A AND Original documentation.

By time this car was delivered, the price of this car was over $105,000!! back in 1985,It would cost double to build today about $300,000
Once the car was finished at Porsche, it was delivered to Hans Schroeder Porsche in Germany (http://www.porschroeder.de/) where it received some of the final dealer installed options before being exported. The car was then delivered to Prototype Imports, Inc. in New York. They handled all the U.S. DOT/EPA conversion and documentation. The car was finally delivered to the customer in Los Angeles by March of 1985.
The car was used as a part time daily driver. It was never abused. Most of the paint is still original to when Porsche finished installing the special rear fenders and rocker panels. There has been some touch up on the hood and front fenders due to rock chips. The exterior is very nice with minor signs of use. The interior is equally nice. The sport seats look great with no tears. The dash is perfect with no warping or cracks. The original carpet and headliner look very nice as well. All the gauges work properly.
The car drives great. The RoW Euro engine has an extra 25+ hp over the U.S. models. Combine this with the better gearing, and this car is significantly faster than most Carreras I’ve driven. The turbo brakes are wonderful with excellent bite. The suspension is firm and responsive. The current owner recently purchased it from the original owner to add to his collection. At the time of purchase, he had a compression test done and the numbers were excellent. The original owner told him that he recently had a top-end rebuild of the engine performed. This is evident by the compression numbers. Recently, new Dunlop tires were installed as well as new shocks.
