1994 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Description

This 1994 C2 Targa is one of twenty-one produced for 1994 and it is unknown how many were in this color combination. It was manufactured in March of 1993 and titled as a 1994 model. Extensive research indicates that there were twenty-one 1994 model cars, manufactured in 1993 but sold and titled as 1994 model cars. Those VINs were RS440061 through RS440081 for the 1994 models. That would make this the tenth car for that year or the eleventh from last of the old-school Targa’s ever produced. Much of the research here was gathered from Porsche Enthusiast Adrian Streather’s book, Porsche 911 (964), Enthusiast’s Companion. I’ve attached two web links to two other 1994s that were listed for sale a few years ago. They are within a few VINs of each other. There are several sites with volumes of information out there concerning the rarity of this car. It is currently owned by the owner of a small pre-owned auto dealership (I work for him) in West Virginia. It is not titled in his personal name as dealer insurance and registration are currently being used. The title is signed by the previous owner (3rd) and will be assigned by the current owner to the new owner, there are no liens recorded. I have taken over 100 pictures in attempt to represent the car in its current condition. It has not been detailed professionally to show the true condition by not making every inch of the car a shiny façade. The odometer currently reads 70, 685. It appears the car has been adult owned, garage kept and well maintained its entire life. It is a nonsmoker car.

The best way to describe this car is, “a driving barn find.” Apparently, the original owner, nor the second and third owner realized that it was one of twenty-one produced for this year. Had they understood what they were driving they possibly would have pampered it a bit more (kept the original wheels intact, stereo and possibly not driven quite as many miles). We know nothing about the original or second owner. The third owner was a physician in town. Apparently, he bought the car based solely on the fact that, he liked it. During his ownership, the car was serviced at the local Porsche dealer (which has since closed) but no records are intact. There is mention of the service on the Carfax. We had an oil service, with filter, and a visual inspection performed by a European service center when we got it. Only a minor (one to three drops a week or so) oil leak was noted.

The previous owner contacted the current owner to inquire if he would purchase the car sometime in December of 2016. Negotiations were made and a deal was struck. The car came to us with minor damage to the front bumper (riding lawn mower backed into it) which we repaired. It is an excellent repair with nearly no noticeability to the untrained eye. We also noticed that the hood had been resprayed sometime in the past. The hood work is noticeable in so far as there is pitting that was painted over as well as emblem gasket overspray. Not a bad job, for a driver but not up to par for a collector. The originality of the car remains intact with the following exceptions; 18-inch Turbo Twist wheels have been installed, the factory stereo and speakers have been replaced and the windows have been tinted. It wouldn’t take much to put this one back to 100% original condition.

There are two reputable European Auto Service facilities in the area that we would be more than happy to have perform an inspection should the potential buyer request and pay for. Additionally, the local Porsche dealer is still in business as an Audi dealer, so they may still be able to perform inspection type services for Porsche.

There is simply too much to say about this car within the listing. Please feel free to call anytime to discuss any comments or concerns you may have. Here is a quick breakdown of everything I can think of.

EXTERIOR

All glass is original, intact and in good condition.

The paint is in overall good condition showing only minimal blemishes that would be expected with a 23-year-old car.

There is one spot of rust blistering on the front cowl driver side, noted in the pictures. Other than that, no rust is noted.

The Targa top is in good condition on the exterior with normal sagging showing on the interior as well as a few holes as noted in the pictures.

The wheels and tires are in good condition with no curb rash and approximately 85 – 90 % tread life remaining.

The seals are in good condition and remain supple with minimal drying, cracking or lifting as noted in the pictures.

All factory panel stickers are present.

INTERIOR

The black leather is in good condition with minimal wear even to the bolsters. No tears or holes are present. The seats are dual power and are heated.

The carpets are clean and free of holes or tears.

There is a missing tape cassette holder face as noted in the pictures.

The center arm rest is functional and in good condition.

All interior switches, controls and instrumentation operate as they should with no defects or warning lights indicating.

The HVAC is fully operational.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The engine starts and runs to operating temperature as it should with no abnormalities.

The Tiptronic transmission operates flawlessly within all gears and modes.

WHEELS & TIRES

The wheels are non-original factory Turbo Twist 18” with 235/40R18 Michelin tires on the front and 255/50R18 Michelin tires on the rear. There is approximately 90% tread life remaining. The wheels are in near mint condition with no rash, curbing, pitting or other defects mentionable.
